Jim Nance is a PUTZ. Lets get real here. The media is just doing what it always does.... Overplay everything, and I for one am tired of this oversensitive commentary for sensationalism.

Jim Nantz talks about Tiger and Phil having cameras in their faces but he doesn't speak on the placement of the microphones. Honestly, the only time I hear any comments from Phil Michelson is when the boom is placed strategically to broadcast the discussion between Phil and his caddy and after a round. The microphone is almost always strategically placed around Tiger after each shot that is televised but hardly ever during the discussion of an upcoming shot with his caddy. Why?

Jim Nantz is grandstanding and I lost all respect I had for him. Nantz has covered sporting events when worse language has been used and never uttered a word.

Hey Jersey Man--
If Tiger tried to be what those who didn't/don't like him he wouldn't be Tiger. He hasn't gotten away with anything, he's is simply a winner and that is what many object too. It has nothing to do with course behavior, who are we kidding?

But your "winner" wasn't the winner. He was the fourth place loser who seemed incapable of controlling his mouth, etc. And just because this loser got away with it in the past doesn't mean that having "mantrums" is fairways etiquette. It may mean that Tiger isn't regarded as anything but another very good player any more.

Hey Andy--
Could you tell me who is the #1 golfer in the world? In order to be number one you must win tournaments, right. Has Tiger Woods done that? Then he must be a winner.
He does

Jim Nantz was correct...there is no place for Tigers Foul Language on the golf course. It points to a big flaw in his character and as a professional (?) he's a poor excuse. He has no respect for the fans and especially the kids. He may be a great golfer and I give him that but as a real man and human being, he's a poor excuse. The gutless PGA should put the cobash on Tiger or any other Pro and impose a fine or a stroke penality. That would put a stop to it.

Well, Tiger is Tiger. He has had this language problem since hi first pro tournament, if not earlier in his amateur career. I Jim Nantz is so concerned why has he waited all these years?? Anyway, if Jim, the networks, the public, the PGA is so concerned why hasn't somebody done anything about it???? Jim, and the other announcers who cover golf, could probably take care of the problem himself by telling the producers not to put a microphone so close to him or they will strike. Of course that won't happen because their jobs come first, regardless of there concern for the fans at home. Nothing could be done for the fans at the course except to crack down on Tiger and the few other golfers who do the same. That won't happen since Tiger brings in the fans, period, and that means big bucks for the sponsors.
So, it is what it is and has been for awhile. We the fans have to deal with it or not watch when it is Tiger's time to hit.
Also, it is the culture for the younger generation. Go to any teenage hangout or a 20's/30's club and listen to the language. Same for a lot of social media/discussion groups. Not like in my day.

I would rather hear Tiger and other Pro's language any day versus those attention seeking so called fans screaming after every shot. Get them there 30 seconds of fame so they will shut up.

Well, Tiger is number one in Golf. Number two is that no one has brought the PGA as many fans/money as he has.
All pro golfers are spoiled, at least the top ones. Free cars--many people to do everything for you at the tournament and a lot of other perks.
Also, I'll bet you anything he does NOT take any lady, sexy or not, back to his hotel room. Tiger, Phil, Rory and the rest of the top golfers deserve the attention--perks etc that they get. Anyway, you are in the Philippines and you worry about Tiger--I know when Manny comes home there is nothing else on the news except him. That's what being at the top of your game/popularity brings to the stars of whatever sport they are in.

I'm not a fan of Jim Nance and his histronics on golf history, however Tiger is rude and crude in front of children that idolize him. Bad role model and PGA should come down hard on him.

Well, I agree with you bman. It would be great if he dialed it back while on the course. I don't think it will happen and I don't think anybody will do anything about it considering his status in Golf. Golf is slowly joining the 21st century and fans are not use to the new attitude/behavior in golf. All you have to do is watch the other major sports, in the U S, and watch how their (most) stars act. At least in Golf we only have a very few that don't act as we wish they would. Look how tennis has changed over the years. Fans from 50 yrs ago wouldn't recognize the sport today. Same thing in 25yrs for golf, imo.

hey rich the gringo
yes i live in the philippines by my own choice..
when MANNY is boxing the crime rate is zero...
at least Manny behaves very nice in public..
i am 61 years old and have been golfing since i was 12 ,,except when i was that had no golf course for Marines to play on..
i was lucky to grow up around some great golfers in Kentucky,,
TIGER is a great golfer...if his personal life was as good as his golf game the game of golf would bring out some gentlemen golfers..
when a grown man uses bad language in public he only draws bad attention..
golf was the last sport for thanks to Tiger actions it has changed for the worse..
i agree the PGA should wake up and take notice..
after Tiger is nothing but a memory of a good golfer,,when real men can act nice in front of the world.. golf will be the better for it

You come from a different generation (so do I). The current generation is not quite how it was when we were growing up. It might be different where you are but you go to clubs today, or sports events, with the current 20's/30's age men the language is terrible. Hell, even the women use 'salty' language. I don't know where you played golf but when I was playing, So.Ca and Okla., the language from a lot of golfers were already using 'salty' language. Tiger just made it public.
And, just so you know, Tiger is not the only golfer that uses 'salty' language. He is the only golfer that has the microphone placed where you can here his reaction after every shot. But, like I have said, it is what it is. Until the PGA does something nothing will happen. For right now this is the way sports is. It is a shame but.......

Jim Nancy and Johnny Miller are two of the biggest pompous aholes on tv. Who really cares what that done nothing puke says. Why don't all you Tiger haters just have a beer and enjoy his fire for the game. Sorry if he uses the word f..k when he is pissed at himself but I know this is a surprise to you, most people do.

Well I m not a Tiger hater. I just thin he ought to change his demeanor. But, also, if it was as bad as some think then one of two things will happen (or both). The T V broadcast will keep the microphone out of range of Tiger. The PGA would crack down on him. But nothing has happened and I really don't think anything will.
And, I disagree with your op[inion of Johnny Miller. He has proven himself as a player and has earned the right to 'tell it how it is'.
