Ban on anchoring of putters divides golfers even before rule goes into effect

There are 2 comments on the PGA.com story from Dec 28, 2012, titled Ban on anchoring of putters divides golfers even before rule goes into effect. In it, PGA.com reports that:

The putt was meaningless because it was the final hole of a pro-am in what amounts to an 18-man exhibition at the end of the year, even though ranking points were available at Tiger Woods' World Challenge earlier this month.

No one is mentioning the MONEY involved in making a rule change like this. For example, long putters and grips for them, already in warehouses and stores around the world. I'm sure putter manufacturers are lobbying for a long transition period. They've probably already thought of some other way to legally change the putter in order to make more money. Let's face it, there are always going to be changes to the games equipment as long as money drives sports. How can golf companies continue to make "billions" with the next "best, biggest, straightest, fastest, easiest to hit club and ball" without changing the rules. Have you seen the latest Nike Driver. Seriously? I think most of golfs' rules and specifications should go back 30 years. Just because technology improves doesn't mean the game has to. Wouldn't all golfers enjoy the game just as much if the ball only went 250yds. Just my opinion.
