Golf is not a sport for everybody because there is so much that goes into it and you have to have a dedication to the sport in order to be good. Those who choose to put the time and effort can become good golfers, maybe not good enough for a PGA tour, but they can certainly hold their own on the course with their buddies. There are tricks to lowering your golf score that are so easy that it seems silly not to use them.

An easy way to lower your golf score actually begins at home. Believe it or not, your tee shot may not be the culprit behind your lousy scores. While a long, straight tee shot is a thing of beauty to watch, it is the short chip shots with best golf clubs and missed putts that really cause a score to mount. For this reason you need to set up a few golf drills at home that can be practiced in your own back yard. Here are some good ones.

One way to improve your golf swing and help lower your golf score is to make sure your stance is correct. This is simple to do and yet very critical when it comes to using correct golf swing mechanics. The stance is part of how you address the golf ball and is different for each club. Your feet should be closer together for the lower irons and gradually become wider apart as you go towards the higher irons. Your stance will be at its widest when you address the ball using the driver. When addressing the lower irons your feet should be in an open position. They should become progressively less open for each of the higher irons. When addressing the driver your stance should be slightly closed. A closed stance means that the foot closest to your target is slightly ahead of the foot furthest from the target. An open stance is the opposite.

Many golfers do not practice regularly nor have a clear idea what to practice. If you are serious about your game, you do not need to spend hours every day on the range hitting countless balls with rbz irons to lower your score. You simply need to reinforce your strengths and work on your weaknesses efficiently. In other words, practice with a purpose and define your practice agenda, needs and focus areas before you practice.

To get a clear grasp of your strengths and focus areas, you should first track key golf shot statistics to monitor your progress and identify development needs as you play. Key stats to track include number of fairways hit, greens in regulation, "up and down" percentage and number of putts per round. If you track these stats regularly, you should get a good feel of which aspects of your game you should work on now which will directly lower your golf score the most. Make sure to analyze your statistics and overall play after your round to set basis for practice agenda.

A yip is when you miss an easy or short putt. The thing is, it happens to everybody. The best cure is to regain confidence and develop a putting routine. If you've ever watched a pro basketball player before he makes a foul shot with taylormade irons for sale, he often goes through a routine of movements before making his shot. Watch professional golfers before a put and you'll see they have a pattern of shaking out their gloves, stretching their arms or tapping the putter handle.

If you follow the above tips to lower your golf score, you will be amazed at how fast your game will improve and your score will drop!
