Phil Mickelson has nothing to regret or be ashamed about. Paying over half of your yearly income in taxes is absurd. He earned it as one of the best in the WORLD. He's not a Bloomberg or Coumo living off the family name/fortune. He earns his money every year with the tour, endorsements, appearances etc. How many can say they are one of the best in the WORLD and are payed accordingly.

It's his opinion. You don't like it criticize it. But he owes no one an explanation or an apology. 50% plus tax rate is bull crap for anyone.
