all the men arrested are great guys who work hard to bring a quality game in a secure location to hundreds of players. they have helped bring together a close network of poker players and have raised thousands of dollars for individuals and groups in the community. funny they were arrested over something so trivial. the cops knew about this league, allowed it to happen for years, and even played in it! classic politics at work here.

i also find it funny that the article quotes that there is an admission fee. there is no such fee. people pay for food and drink, not to play. any other fees are directly into the prize pool and the house does not take a cut. moreover, players bring what they want for cash games.

the money seized was mostly player's money. this is money the cops stole and will most likely not refund the players. they say that the rake is what is illegal, and that playing in these games is not. yet it is the players being punished. such is life, i suppose.

to all you who played at apl, see you at the felt somewhere else! and to those arrested, we appreciate all you have done for the local poker community and wish you well.

sounds like something really mundane and harmless. I guess they want the taxes? http://nabacar.com
