"The raid was conducted by Sixth Precinct Crime Section Officers, assisted by Emergency Services Officers, the Sixth Precinct Gang Unit and the Sixth Precinct COPE Unit."
Wow! I really feel safe knowing these guys are on the job fighting against poker night. You folks at the senior citizen centers better look out you're next on the hit list!

We can certainly be proud of our fine police force. Just trying to justify their EXHORBITANT salary and benefits package by breaking up a poker game. We should be PROUD.

Gee, imagine what would happen if we legalized gambling. Increased tax revenue to help reduce property taxes, fund schools, create jobs, increase tourism, etc. Oh well, just dreaming, I guess we should be happy we have Lotto.

Amazing! Go to any volunteer firehouse, American Legion hall, Elk's lodge, VFW hall, Knight's of Columbus hall and other "social" clubs and you can find a game but as soon as a guy collects a fee for organizing a game he is a criminal.

I think our law enforcement professionals, court system and penal system should be used for more pressing threats to our society than busting a guy for providing a service that can be found in any of our social clubs.

NY continues to get it wrong on poker, sports book, casinos and marijuana by wasting our taxes on trying wage a war that they will never win. The citizens of NY want to play poker, bet on football games and smoke a joint but NYers end up dealing with and supporting the underworld so that we can participate in activities that we want.

Your tax $$$ at work !!!! These guys could have been out patrolling the streets making sure people are safe as they walk to the store, etc. Instead, they are busy "raiding" a card game where consenting adults are playing cards. I guess it's important to them since the county or the state didn't get a cut. How ridiculous !!!

The police were clear - it was an illegal poker game. What part of illegal don't you all understand? Or does that not apply here for some reason?

These cops have nothing better to do? Absolutely pathetic. This is almost as bad as when I was a teenager and cops caught me and my friends drinking. We didn't get in trouble, they just wanted the beer for themselves.

the SCPD leadership is a joke. If they don't start busting down (ARRESTING) their own members for the poker games THEY PARTICIPATE IN, they should stay out of peoples homes. f.cking as.holes.$100,000+ for this crap. GET RID OF THE ILLIGAL SCUM THAT IS WALKING THE STREETS AND STAY OUT OF OUR [email protected]!
