Rather than the media doing articles on the prominent San Diego area people who until they were finally exposed and busted had been considered pillars of the community and the hearts and souls of honesy and integrity, and such as for instance Maureen O'Connor, instead the media should do articles on the few San Diego area bigshots who have not not actually been total phonies, since the list would be much shorter.
For instance the list of San Diego area bigshots who everyone for many years, and sometimes even decades, "knew" were wonderful people have included such "saints" as John Alessio, Arnholdt Smith, Dick Silberman, J. David Dominelli, organized crime kingpin M.L. "Larry The Liar-Arlington National Cemetery" Lawrence, and now of course also Maureen O'Connor.
And to make it all the more interesting, while I do not know if Arnholdt Smith had a close relationship with organized crime kingpin M.L. "Larry" Lawrence, however all of the others did.
(NOTE: Organized crime kingin M.L. "Larry" Lawrence and at least some of his lawyers provided so much in election campaign contributions and under the table bribes to the politicians, that therefore most of the politicians pretended Lawrence, and who for decades was the primary owner of the Hotel Del Coronado, was a legitimate businessman.)
However Maureen O'Connor having been unmasked will not even seem a drop in the bucket on the sleazeball meter once the real truth comes out about Norman Seltzer, an extremely prominent and extremely powerful San Diego lawyer who died about a year ago, and who when he died was eulogized as having been the soul of honesty, decency, and integrity.

Actually, if you want to talk about gambling really big, the amounts of money Maureen O'Connor is alleged to have gambled was not even a drop in the bucket compared to what organized crime kingpin M.L. "Larry The Liar" Lawrence and some of his crooked lawyers and some of his other associates gambled, and based on their extreme confidence that eventually they would eat a certain whistleblower for breakfast.
However as time went on those particular lawyers, and who combined the most extreme sleaziness with also the most extreme stupidity, and because of their stupidity caused the whistleblower to learn various things, and including that: one, lawyers have far and away the highest rates of alcoholism and drug abuse of any major profession; and two, most arson fires in office buildings when the fire is arranged by a "torch" working for organized crime occur at about 3AM in the morning.
NOTE: A large office building that organized crime kingpin M.L. "Larry The Liar" Lawrence was the primary owner of did go up in flames at 3AM in the morning, and in fact just before CAL OSHA was to do a followup and more thorough investigation into the building's many asbestos violations. In fact, that building was eventually the subject of a newspaper article titled "ASBESTOS BY THE BAY."

Sure, everyone loves to gamble ... if they win. But, the person sitting next to you in church, the man in line at the grocery store, or one of your co-workers; any one of these could be involved with a gambling problem. Imagine your grandmother committing a crime to support her gambling addiction. I am a recovering alcoholic, gambler, and have recovered from other addictive behaviors. I published a book, Gripped by Gambling, where the readers can follow the destructive path of the compulsive gambler, a prison sentence, and then on to the recovery road.
I recently published a second book, Switching Addictions, describing additional issues that confront the recovering addict. If a person who has an addictive personality, doesn’t admit to at least two addictions, he’s not being honest. Until the underlying issues have been resolved, the person will continue to switch addictions. These are two books you might consider adding to your library. I also publish a free online newsletter, Women Helping Women, which has been on-line for more than twelve years and is read by hundreds of women (and men) from around the world.( www.femalegamblers.info ). I have been interviewed many times, and appeared on the 60 Minutes show in January 2011, which was moderated by Leslie Stahl.
