I sent a WII controller into a $6500 plasma screen and now it's cracked and all black. Is the plasma TV worthless now?

Don't know if anyone else has tried this TV screen protector. Please let me know if it works as it is just what I am looking for.
I have not tried that one, but I do have the Cheetah Screen Protector and it is pretty good.

I did the same thing with my 42 inch plasma, well my kid did it playing the bowling game. I ended up getting a Cheetah Screen Protector, it has worked out pretty good.

I'm on my second 52" flatscreen LCD thanks to my two year old son's ability to throw. A dog bone was the object that took flight and it left an "impact crater" in the middle of a $3,000 TV. Of course insurance does not cover this so I made my own screen shield with the help of a plastics company. It costs about $170 and it doesn't disrupt the picture at all. I could probably customize this to any set (smaller would cost less) if anyone would need me to help them make one. It hangs over the top and can be removed, but you honestly never need to. It also can be cleaned with windex when it gets dusty as opposed to special cleaners. Only drawback is it reflects like a plasma instead of a true LCD screen.

the remote flew out of my hand, and it was not intentional or careless. I'm 35 years old, and pay the bills. Now I'm out 1300 dollars for a tv. if i can do it, anyone can unintentionally. if it had been one of the kids, i wouldn't be typing right now. The next time they do something accidentally, I'll be reminded of tonight. 150 is a fraction of buying a new tv.

Bought a 50" Samsung plasma which was my pride and joy. The end came when my son cracked the screen playing with his Nintendo Wii. I was there when it happened - it didn't even hit it very hard.
Before buying another Plasma I looked around to see if there was any way of protecting it. Looked around on the internet and found that there are a couple of options available. One company sells a clear film that you peel of its backing and put oto the screen - not quite sure whether that would protect a plasma from a nintendo Wii remote! Also a couple of companies sell acrylic screen protectors. One company sell a model that just 'hangs' from the top surface of the plasma. Quite good but I'm sure that a child would easily pull it off. Also my plasma is wall mounted and is tilted downwards so not quite sure whether it would stay on any way.
The best one I found (and have now bought one) is from The Screen Protector Limited. It has velcro straps to the rear so is firmly attached to the rear of the tv. I was worried about reflections but have had no problems at all. Infact since fitting it I haven't taken it off. My brother (lives in USA)also bought one - delivery only took 2 days!
Oh yes website is at:

My 42" bit the dust last night. Yes my son's toy airplane decided to fly right into the screen. Before buying a new one I will definitely buy a protector like one of these. My post is more to tell those who say this is a waste is that they are dead wrong. I can guess by there messages that they are childless and believe that just because you have children you are not entitled to buy a Plasma or LCD. Here's the problem with that. First, it's wrong. Why can't you have a nice TV just because you have kids. Second, Have you gone shopping for a new TV these days. The Old tubes are relegated to about a quarter of an aisle in the back of the store. Soon they will be non existent.

I guess folks like these feel entitled to their dear LCD because they can't find someone willing to go through the procreation process.

Looked at several different screen protectors as I have just bought a 32" plasma and I have two young children! The lady at The Screen Protector was really helpful and it was delivered really quickly. It was really simple to put on my plasma and works really well.

I recommended it to my sister in Florida (Vero Beach) and she ordered and received hers within 3 days. She is really pleased with hers as well.

I got it from http://www.thescreenprotector.com

This argument is stupid. I searched for this product bc we are looking at buying a new tv. Five years ago we bought a large screen projection TV BEFORE we had little ones. Now it has color distortion that has gotten progressively worse. We DO use 'play pens'--now called 'pack and plays' or 'play yards' but they dont' work when you have a two year old that can climb out or a 1 year old that is screaming while you are trying to watch tv. They want to be mobile and play. Well,we don't want to invest a lot of money and have them break or scratch it. This is a great idea. Now I know they exist and before buying I will inquire if one is built in. It is not 'a stupid purchase.'

I agree with Dumb from Coumbus.

I have just bought a screen protector from

http://www.thescreenprotector.com

It is such a simple but effective idea. I no longer worry about my young children damaging the screen. I don't even notice that it is there. It is easy to clean and gives me peace of mind . Worth it just for that!!!

Just got my screen protector from http://www.thescreenprotector.com . Was a bit worried about ordering it from the UK but I was amazed at how quickly I got it - 2 days! They were also really helpful. Why dont they sell this here in the stores? Anyone with young children should have one.
A better product IMHO

I just picked up a product called TV Armor a few weeks ago. http://www.tv-armor.com It works great.. And it was cheaper then the cheetahsp product. Now I can relax with a 3 year old running around the house and a 2k+ LCD.

Ann, Check out TV Armor http://www.tv-armor.com I looked into the screen protectors on the market and they seem to be the thickest, and pretty much the cheapest. I got one a few weeks ago and it works great.

Despite all comments about using a belt(??!!)I decided to order a screen protector. Not many on the market.
Got one from http://www.thescreenprotector.com . Really pleased with it. It was easy to attach to my plasma, it stays fixed, and keeps my children away from the screen.
Also don't have to use those expensive cleaning solutions now because I just clean the screen protector with window cleaner so it is actually saving me money as well!
While I am loath to use a belt.. the belt wont fix a broken TV or stop an accident.. I picked up a TV screen protector from http://www.tv-armor.com My kids play around the TV all the time and now I can relax.
