Why are the teachers objecting? Are they afraid that they will no longer be able to stretch their 15 minute smoke breaks to 45 minutes?

(Actually, most teachers are paid for "preparation time" or some other non-class time during the day. I'm betting they don't spend it working now, and are afraid of being found out. Otherwise, why object?)

Agreed.

Knowing who's on campus is good for both security and performance measurement. Since the union members aren't paid by the hour, it's not about pay. They shouldn't be upset by better security. Perhaps the hours on campus will show teachers performing at different levels.
Might they be concerned about performance measurement creeping into the job, like most professions?

oh good, this will mean that the teachers can say that they will not do any more work on their own time .if the school want the thumb prints then they do not need to be doing things after school hours .but then we should cut the pay for all the school board folks .

yes it is a waste of time .does the district got better things to do ? and for our stupid friend Happy to be working from San Leandro can go to mexico or where ever . If you like the wages you get now then shut up because some union had a part in what you are getting . Just what does the thumb print prove ? Why not have all the kiddies and every one that comes on the school grounds do the same thing . Hope the teachers get what they want
Nice grammer and punctuation there KB. How can you be so pro-teacher when you obviously never paid attention in class?(that class being at a "special" school, no doubt)

Gee, wonder why they'd need to monitor whether the teachers were there. Maybe they haven't been working the time they are paid to work. Sure wouldn't surprise me.

QUOTED

I don’t see anything wrong with it. All of us clock in and out at our jobs. So what is the big deal?
It must be a reason why the district wants them to start clocking in and out.
Every single school district should do the same thing starting from head to toes.
From janitor to school principals and superintendent.

What is wrong with teachers clocking in ?
Hopefully after that all other administrators will follow suit. Maybe this way the education system can become transparent. Besides most teachers only work about nine months a year . Quit whining and focus on the students.
A law suit over this is rediculous. Besidees The district will spend public money.
What a waste of money . Other local school districts already spend tons of public money defending lousey employees as it is.

this is for Batman What the hell does what party u vote for got to do with this ? are you claiming that ALL teachers are Democrats ? The school board needs to cut the staff they have for if they can not keep track of a teacher then they can put a chip in them to see where they are 24 / 7 . how about getting a chip for all the kids so you know if they come to school or not . you got to track down the kiddies also after all you are in charge of them when they are to be in school .

Give the Sausalito Marin City Teachers and Staff a break will you? Someone always has something stupid to say, and you all don't even know what's really going on in that district. If you are all concerned, then do something about it. Obviously the teachers are!
