Old aged Chinese people know King Sihanouk very well because, during his regime, the King used to donate a lot of husked rice to China while China was suffering the poverty and famine.

Recently, Myanmar cancelled a $3.6 billion Chinese dam project because of widespread protests, and a proposed pipeline that would move oil and gas to China could meet the same fate.

China gave $1.19 billion in aid to Cambodia last year, about 10 times that of the US. Although China gives the aid without strings attached, its companies are being rewarded with non-transparent "access to mineral and resource wealth," The United States dropped upwards of 2.7 million tons of bombs on Cambodia, exceeding the amount it had dropped on Japan during WWII According to the Commission, 600,000 Cambodians died out of a population of 7 million and another 2 million people became refugees. Carlyle Thayer, an Australian Indochina specialist, estimated the number of dead at 500,000 of which 50,000 to 60,000 were executions. The CIA estimated that 600,000 had died. Cambodia has debts of over $300 million to US. CAMBODIA has implored the United States to cancel debts of more than US$300 million that the Kingdom has owed to the United States since the Lon Nol regime of the 1970s, but us still claim Cambodia have to pay back. what's fair on earth? 600,000 life can't equal 300 million?

I read somewhere where the number of deaths ranges from 200,0000 to 800,000. If we take the CIA number of 600,000, and the estimated deaths of around 2 million during the Khmer Rouges, then the total is around 2.6 million out of 7 million. That is 37% of the entire population!

I have heard that Sihanouk said that if the US pays back the debts to Cambodia, it has to include every grass and leave that were destroyed, in addition to human deaths.

On a separate note, the illegal bombing of Cambodia was what gave support to the Khmer Rouges. Without the CIA deposing Sihanouk and the bombing, there would be no chance whatsover that the Khmer Rouges came to power. My mother became almost insane staying in a bunker day and night. The sound of the bombers alone terrorized her and the people in the entire village (and throughout the nation).

An elderly woman was looking for her grand daughter. While she was holding the little girl's hand running to a bunker, a piece of shrpnel sliced her head in half and she collapsed to her death instantly. Smoke and balls of flame rose above the village. It was hell on earth. This angered people and the whole nation were united (like you had never seen before). The Khmer Rouges rose to power overnight.

About the US debt, the original amount was not $300 million. It is the interest that keeps adding up, and it is being calculated each day.

Uncle Sam always keep an eye to Cambodia to make sure her current leaders won't stray off the main flow and into the trap which is set up by the evil Chinese. And if that is the case and to the greater extent, I feel bad for Khmer people, because it seems the world is setting up big blocs surrounding China nowadays. Through recent historic event of Polpot, if current Cambodian leaders still fall into the old trap, there wouldn't be much chance for a bright future to average Cambodians.....

The reason Yingluck got elected as Prime Minister of Thailand was because the Thai people were weary of war.

So, Mr. Hun Sen is controlling the fate of Yingluck staying in power or not by deciding whether to keep the Thailand-Cambodia border low key or to escalate it. Effectively, Thailand is being twisted a little bit by Cambodia.

Currently Thai politicians are a bunch of jokes and no matched to Mr. Hun Sen.

And Thailand too. Now, the two of them, China and Thailand are getting together again, against Cambodia.
