ipod wont show on itunes & on my computer

hey all - i got the 30g ipod but it wont show it on my computer nor on the itunes..Plss.. Anyone had the same problem?? Cheers

i have experienced the same exact problem but just a little different. My ipod had a corrupt file and it told me to run the chkdsk utility which i did in command prompt. Now the error message has dissapeared but the music on my ipod wont show up in itunes nor on my ipod. But when looking at itunes it will say that my ipod has 4.38 gb used meaning that the music and my videos are possibly still on my ipod ram. Ive tryed going into diagnostic mode but when the ram test runs it will say that there is no problem. I need help on how to fix this. Does my old itunes version contribute to my ipod being messed up? Someone get back to me on this problem.ASAP!!!!

omg i have a similar problem for about a month and a half now my itunes wont recognize my ipod so i cant update it on itunes or add new songs i need major help its frustrating me sooo much!!

It seems to me that the Ipod 30g has problems, i had one and i took it back because of all the trouble it gave me with itunes, One thing i did notice is if you plug it in before you open itunes, it might catch it when you open it but will probably tell you to restore like it did for me. Once i did it put me into a recovery mode and told me to restore and update, so i did and a message will pop up saying "your ipod has been restored please do not disconnect ipod it is reseting. Once the ipod turned back on it was stuck in the recovery mode so i did it like 30 times and i was still stuck so i decided after reading all these comment boxes i looked at, it was time to bring it back.
80g IPOD is only an extra 100 dollars so its worth the upgrade with no hassel after it. And the new itunes is really bad/you are one of the many, many people with this problem.

i have the exact same problem, and it's totally pissing me off. It won't recognize my ipod on my computer, but it WILL work on my boyfriend's computer. i've gone on iPod help, but the "5 R's" don't do anything, and i've tried updating and everything.

I got an old ipod shufle frm currys a couple of months ago and it wouldnt show up on my pc i think it was because my usb speed is 1.1. I took it back and got a refund.

has anyone figured out this problem? none of my friends are having this problem... its really stupid and im really mad!!! it will sometimes recognize my ipod, but it will never upload it! it doesnt have the "sync ipod" option, only "transfer purchases for the iPod" and its really stupid!!! i have tried making a different account of my computer but its not working. i really need help!!!! please tell me if you figure anything out. ome site i visited suggested forcing it into "disk mode" but i tried and i dont know what happened... please help

The Sandisk Sansa has a poor build quality, a crappy flimsy wheel, a very sub-par why did they even bother radio and doesn't work with iTunes. Talk about "gay" not to mention a waste of money.

HELP HELP! PLS HELP ME! i had my ipod plugged into my PC, and added some songs. this was fine. i then unplugged my ipod. it then reset itself - with the apple logo coming on etc. i thought, ok, this is fine, it should just go to the normal menu. however, the ipod is now stuck in a continuous loop of this, and nothing will stop it. how can i fix this? PLS HELP ME!

Steve, had same problem with my nano and couldn't get help anywhere. If like me you are using windows OS you might want to try unplugging the ipod from the PC and pressing "MENU" & "back" together for a few seconds. I found this started a diagnostics program. I set the thing to "deep sleep test" then tried to connect as normal to the PC. Works fine now.(original error message was "unknown error (50)"
