Police requesting new $83K video surveillance setup

Gahanna's council committee for public service and safety reviewed legislation Monday evening to authorize the expenditure of $83,000 for a new video surveillance system.

I can only hope Councilman McAlister will voice his usual opposition to budget items such as this.

Does any other surrounding community have this advanced technology? Why can't that money go to some operational expense for the police department or be kept for a rainy day. Remember this spending in May of 2011 when Gahanna asks it taxpayers to poney up more. McAlister can oppose all he wants; they just keep spending and building.
