To some extent, I understand your point. Although, this is better than the alternative (which is nothing). I say kudos to 7 Eleven for stepping up to the plate and taking action. The individuals who committed these crimes are solely responsible for the consequences of their actions. It cant bring back the 3 victims, but it may prevent any future tragedies.

Its too bad 3 people had to die before they decided to "beef" up security but at least its being done.

Just about every time I drive by there, there's 2 cruisers parked front to back in the parking area here, so it is hard to see how there could be much more police presence there.

Wonder if Jerry and "Charlie" Meas are brothers or perhaps twins since they are both age 24. Jerry's already serving time, Chrarlies next, maybe getting a few Meas' out of circulation will curb the killings.

Get rid of the pay phone out front and that will get rid of a lot of the element.

According to previous articles in the Sun, the Meas are not related. Just a common name.

The problem with that is that a lot of people need that payphone. Many people in that area dont have access to any other phone.
Maybe they could put it inside.

Whatever we think about the location or the past at that 7-11; it seems to me that the company is putting a lot of money into security. The paper said that the police will have immediate access to pictures from the camera even as they are on the way over there in the event of a call. Since many of the cruisers have computers now, I think that means they can see pix on the computer. Between that and the new signage- we can hope that it makes that 7-11 a better place to go. The White Hen Pantry on Princeton should do the same- it seems like they are always getting robbed.

I live on Westford street but on the good side past Wilder Street, How is this going to help once thugs figure out the parameter of these cameras? All this will do is help wealthy shoppers who have cars and can just plow them down instead of getting mugged. What they need to do is have police officers patrol on foot Westford st. and the rest of that cesspool they call the Acre. If i have to walk up and down that street without the protection of a vehicle so should officers.

They didn't have this problem when the ORIGINAL Citgo service station was there. I think it started as a "Jenny" or "Cities Service" station back about 30-40 years ago. Across Chelmsford Street was an AMC Dealer methinks. And there were a lot of tenements to the rear of 7 and 15 Westford Streets (Watson and Oak Avenues)... Watson Avenue went into the Chelmsford St. RR bridge. Culligans was another service station. I forget the name of it. Commodre Ballroom on the Rotary side of the Chelmsford St. Bridge @ Thorndike. And all those run-down tenements between Chelmsford and Hale Streets. It was really slummy there. I lived on 168 Grand St. back in '66 or so. And also at 7 Westford St., and 25 Oak Avenue...

Is Standard Auto Parts still there?

I miss the ol' place.

Well, it was fun to ramble...

You too can have the protection of a vehicle, believe it or not. All you need to do is this: Quit being a lowlife scumbag and get a job.
