" the image you’re seeing on the screen or in the viewfinder is not exactly the image that your camera will capture on its sensor. It's pretty darn close, but not quite, because it's actually coming through a separate lens." This is misleading and wrong in most cases as most point and shoot camera these days don't have a viewfinder, just a screen on the back that shows the actual image from the lens.
