But Sinhalese racist government only wants the Tamils to learn Sinhalese and not English. The LLRC states that both Tamils and Sinhalese should compulsorily learn all three languages.
However racist Sinhalese government states Tamils must only learn Tamil and Sihalese and then gradually only Sinhalese, whilst Sinhalese should learn Sinhalese and English.

....... which suggests the Sinhalese people have pride to their culture/race than Indians.

Instead Indians forcing their folks back home to adopt an alien cultural language in English speak; the spoken and language of their former British colonial masters, the Indian government should aim for a unify Indian national language to unite the different people of India. The same the Chinese make Putonghua, or Mandarin in the West, their national dialect.

It is a great development, will ultimately phase out Sinhalese from the Island.

I am not too clear on this whole language business in schools in SL.
I seem to recall PA stating that his son at St Thomas' was studying tamil as his second language which contradicts the first post.
Are tamil medium students in colombo studying English as their second language while their contemporaries in the NE study sinhala ?
In my opinion & given the resourses, all students should be studying English as their second language & tamil or sinhala as only a third language.
Though it make sense for all tamils to learn the language spoken by 75 to 80% of the population, in the interest of fairness all sinhala kids should learn tamil, even though it would only be of use if they get a job in the NE or Wellawatte.

You are the racist here Siva. Think about what you're saying.

Sinhalese is spoken only in Sri Lanka, it is a language that is unique to Sri Lankan people. It is part of our history, our culture and our heritage. If the language is not preserved and encouraged on the Island then we'll lose it within a few generations, and with it, we'll lose part of ourselves.

I wholeheartedly agrre that Sinhalese should be taught to all students in SL.

Siva - you accuse us of trying to stamp out the Tamil language in Sri Lanka, yet it is you tryiong to eradicate it altogether.

Tamil students benefit from learning the majority language as it helps them get jobs.

And don't propagate misinformation. Tamil students can easily learn Sinhalese and English if they want, they don't necessarily need Tamil in Sri Lanka.
