Well, as seen even in China, any blog or website voicing information on the hidden wealth of the CCP leadership, is immediately completely shut down by censors. But when the story is outside china they send hackers to cause expensive damage or like in this case get the addresses of the people who leaked the story, sort of like a warning to free press that CCP corruption is off limits even to them.

And yes they have hit military instalations in the past, thaats how the government knows it the same hackers, something about it carrying the same signature. Feel bad for whoever leaked this information because his ass is fried with butter.

Why does someone bother to try to destroy the info. this way knowing that all such information has been backup at different levels and different time and stored off-site.

They didn't want to destroy the information. They wanted to find out who had provided it so they could go murder them.

The number one security threat to the CCP is the Chinese public finding out how much party members pay themselves.

It is not about the information they destory but the usable hunks of machines they leave behind in case and the information they take. In this case nothing was destoryed only taken.

Having to call in an IT guy to fix a problem on one computer costs money and during that time employees are just standing around doing nothing which they get paid for. Many businesses run a very thin mergin of profit and can not afford these types of things young man.
