This may be seen as a flicker of hope that once Fidel dies, brother Raul may be willing to substantially improve life on the island.

How are they supposed to buy cell phones with government handed money? Or are they giving everyone in cuba a free cell phone?

You people realize that most companies and stores are government owned, and cubans get a certain amount of money each month. I'm sure they want to spend that on Cell Phones
NO DIFFERENCE

If you look at a lot of developing countries (of course Cuba has long been a non-developing country) they have found its now a lot cheaper to build a telephone infrastructure around cell phones than land lines. I expect thats the way Cuba will choose to go.

Why is this news? Oh, that's right, this is a way the South Florida media panders to the sad cuban community. I am sure there is more important news to report.

Of course... The Cuban American population that screams about how little people earn in Cuba. The exact same population that works for extremely low wages and drives down the price of labor for the ordinary worker.

Who would advocate this? The Cubans that came over during the big boat lift that have started up companies on the blood of their corrupted families that they smuggled out of Cuba.... They were the corrupt and living in mansions while the regular population worked in poverty.

Poverty got mad and rebelled. Rich people bailed out and ran. Came to the U.S. and do the same thing over again.

Look at the politicians in Miami, and every suburb around it. Corruption throughout. Big contracts to other Cuban American companies that get big bucks for substandard work... If it even gets finished.

I don't mind immigrants, and I do believe that a legal immigration policy is good for America. But these SO CALLED political asylum seekers have done the majority of the destruction of South Florida.

By the way, they are ripping off their own people the worst.

I want the embargo lifted so MAYBE some of them will leave... Oh that's right, they won't leave because corrupt politicians and substandard pay for employees is OK to do in the US and you won't be killed for ripping people off like they would be in Cuba.

When I went to Cuba, the people were amazing. Warm and wonderful people. A beautiful country. What the %&^* happened in 90 miles. They come here and they are A-HOLES.

Ok I am an immigrant...and your comment is well taken. I hope some people don't interpret them as anti-immigrant. It is amazing what opportunities and wealth will do to people.

You missed his point..and you blamed America for the departure of decency. I am sure if more were like you then the sentiment towards cuban americans would not be so negative.
