What is it about a boy wearing a skirt that threatens some of you so much? I am glad that "idiot moran lawyer" (as you called him) who has a degree took the time to protect this kids rights. I'd have to agree with you that this was a waste of time, it should have never gone this far. The school needs to stop trying to impose hegemonic norms on its students and start doing its job...

Reading the above posts I couldn't help but have a chukkle to myself.First of all why on earth would a male want to wear a skirt?! That is just beyond me.

I agree with Dave Blane, it was a pathetic waste of time. The School dealt with it, and that should have been the end.

Would they allow boys to wear bras as well?

How about thongs and nothing else?

OMG ! No wonder out students have the lowest grade level of learning ! They are spending ( with parents approval) way too much time doing this garbage, and with the aid of idiot moron lawyers too. And THEY HAVE A DEGREE. If I had a law office and this kid and father came into see me about this issue, I would have booted both of them in the ASS and sent them out the door!

And? Who cares if he was? I fail to see what that would have to do with the issue.

the kid in this story did not want to wear skirts to school. He wanted to continue to wear shorts to school. New school policy gave girls the choice between pants or skirts and boys will wear pants. He also had some medical problem with his legs that was the start of him wearing shorts to school.

ps I'm 43,married,hetero and wear skirts big deal.

thank you, firedawg...this kid wasn't even fighting for 'bigger picture' issues like gender-expression, freedom of speech (expression), or actual discrimination- what is a waste of time is that the ACLU was involved in something that actually was keeping things just the way they are

I wish more young people would fight for there basic civil liberties (also their parents). This dress code crap has gotten way out of hand. Back during the Vietnam era the Supreme Court ruled that school could establish dress codes only to the extent that it is a Safety issue, or a decency issue.

I am 37 ex-Army Ranger. All man. I think if this kid wants to wear a skirt then good for him. I fought to protect his freedoms. He should be able to wear whatever he wants as long as it is safe. God bless the USA and Freedom for ALL. YES ALL OF US!!!!!!!!!!
