All businesses would be profitable from day one if they didn't have to pay taxes.
Having worked for the IRS, simply telling someone at the IRS that you think someone isn't paying their fair share of taxes or reporting income doesn't automatically trigger an audit or even an investigation. You have to have proof and simply reading a story in a newspaper is not proof.

It must suck knowing that you are nothing. That you are so small that you have to try to hurt those who rise above you by working hard and not accepting that something can't be done. Does it make you feel good that you can try to knock someone down, only because it might give you a feeling of power in your pathetic little existence?

Oh for crying out loud! Those things were there regardless of whether she'd started her business - it's not as if the utilities ran lines, the DOT built roads, and the like, just for her business (BTW - these things happen for new businesses opening in an undeveloped area all the time)! Those are EXACTLY the things our tax dollars should be used for - infrastructure, so commerce of all sizes can run, so we employees can get to and from work, etc. So please, get a life and stop whining. Oh, and stop being a wet blanket for a good story about a young lady who received lemons and made lemonade from them.

Her business is not registered in Minnesota (at least not on the name listed on the website). It does not seem likely she is paying taxes.

Funny how I am loser for supporting the law and fairness. If we could just get everyone to pay the taxes they owe maybe we wouldn't need to raise taxes on those of us who actually pay them.

How is making everyone play on a level playing field knocking someone down?

I've always thought that if someone is going to call someone dumb or a loser they should at least check their spelling and grammar.

It's really amazing to me that people somehow don't think this girl should have to pay taxes like everyone else.

Wow, just read through the comments. This entrepreneur isn't one to be scoffed at.

I know her business model. Payments are electronic and 1099 are automatically spat out at you from the bowels of the internets. All her gross vs. net is done mostly electronically, too.

Her little cute job i would estimate makes her easily over 6 figures a year, more than what she would have made as a mid level architect at a medium to large firm.

She knows what she's doing she just happens to sew, too.

She probably had to learn to sew to sell her cases.

Hello 'Look':
My name is Angie Davis. I am "the girl" you are referring to in your post. I am registered with the State of Minnesota as well as the federal government. I have paid all Federal and State taxes since the beginning of my business including employment taxes and sales and use tax. If you have further questions, feel free to contact me and I can put you in touch with both my bookkeeper and my Accountant. Thanks for your interest in my business.
Have a good day,
Angie Davis

How do you know she is not paying taxes? HOW? What gives you any indication that she is not paying taxes?

I am missing a laptop and I know you stole it. I am going to contact the police and have them access your IP address and arrest you. I have no direct proof but I can tell you did it.

When I got laid off from my job as a nationally recognized sous chef, I started a new career as an exotic dancer for elderly wealthy women. Now I have a mansion on lake minnetonka and a driveway full of foreign cars. One of the reasons the money goes so far is its all in cash and I don't pay any taxes on it. Swing by the lake some time and try to rat me out to your weasely friends. ;)

She may want to move to South Dakota. The transportation infrastructure & roads are as good there as here but no income tax.

I've been told there're lots of hard working girls working and 14th and Vermont Ave. in North West Wash D.C.. Bless their hearts for staying off welfare and for keeping some "things" from getting dusty or rusty, so to speak. I do however question how many of these girls pay their fair share of income tax.

Wow I read this whole article and didn't see any reference to any tax issues. I'm sure the lady is smart enough to know what's she's doing with that or she wouldn't want it to be publicized. All the negative posters must be a bunch of liberals looking for some new tax revenue in case THEY ever get laid off so the only initiative they'll ever have to show is the ability to walk to the bank to cash their unemployment check! Keep on taxin'!!!
