I can't see working British conditions becoming applicable in France. The French like to be 'cushioned' from all of life's upheavals.
France has too much employment legislation, which may be a good thing in one hand, but makes employers think twice before recruiting anyone: THEY CAN'T SACK HIM!
Britain has a more liberal attitude regarding 'hiring and firing' and there is less workers' protection, but there are also more opportunities. Employers are noy scared to 'try someone on', because if it doesn't work, they just sack him on the spot!
Also, France is obsessed with qualifications for any jobs, even the most menial ones. In Britain, you are given a chance to 'have a go', even if you don't have the required qualifications for most of ordinary jobs.
There is some truth that Britain is more open than France, to employ foreigners, and xenophobia is less present. What a British boss wants is 'value for money'(a re-occuring theme in British business), and it doesn't matter too much who provides it.
