He was quite a guy. In those old days, actors were mainly brilliant or at least very highly versatile.

No so with the b00ger noses pansies today.

The basic essential of a great actor is that he loves himself in acting....

I have no further use for America.I wouldn't go back there if Jesus Christ was President...

I don't believe that the public knows what it wants; this is the conclusion that I have drawn from my career...

He is the greatest of all time. Try watching City Lights or The Kid. Watch either one all the way through and you will see the genius.

People forget about the true 'character' of the man. It was actually pretty pathetic.... He had "a weakness for young girls. His first two wives were 16 when he married them; his last, Oona O'Neill, daughter of Eugene O'Neill, was 18. In 1943 he was the defendant in a public, protracted paternity suit. Denouncing his "leering, sneering attitude" toward the U.S. and his "unsavory" morals, various public officials, citizen groups and gossip columnists led a boycott of his pictures."

You don't know what is a child molester.

Polanski has never been accused of being one.

You are just making it up!!

Making it up? How old do you think the child was he is accused of raping? Oh, I get it. You French think it's fine for a man to cheat on his wife, but if it's reversed she is a slut. And men don't molest children. Doesn't exist. No wonder everyone hates the French.

No, you are making it up!! Polanski has NEVER been accused of rape, but on sex with an UNDER-AGE female. That's a completely different thing!! Rape suppose sex against the wishes of the victim, implicating coersion, threat, violence, etc...

But, it was found that sex was consentual, so Polanski was in fact dupped by the girl. Furthermore, it wasn't even the girl herself who filled the complaint. Polanski may well have been framed!

Polanski was the victim of a witch-hunt. There was nobody at the time imprisoned for similar offense in the state of California (if I recall that rightly), but the attorney who was dealing with the case, had intention to run for higher office and needed a famous case to make a name for himself. Also, that attorney was a notorious anti-semite and Polanski is Jew!!

Polanski was asked to undergo some psychiatric evaluation as a temporary measure whilst in bail, but the attorney changed his mind and decided he should revoke his bail and send him to prison instead. That's when Polanski came and took refuge in France.

This has nothing to do with France at all, but is just a typical example of American corrupt legal system.

Rather than making disparaging comments about France and the French, look rather at the corruption and depravity in your on country!!

It's called statutory rape, moron. And he was charged with it. Same as Chaplin. The cowards left the country rather than be men a face the music. You French ought to relate to that. It took the Americans to save your sorry arses from the Germans.

You can say what you like, moron, consesual sex is never rape!!
Chaplin, like Polanski, was a great artist. I have never heard that he raped anyone!!
Avoiding a witch hunt is no sign of cowardise in my book: we know how bias and corrupt the American justice system is!!

Also, Americans didn't save us from anything; there were merely part of a huge coalition against Germany, where the Soviets did the heavy lifting whilst Uncle Sam joined in just at the end to get the glory!!

So, don't go about trumpetting false glory here!!

It appears in France, males can entrap young unsuspecting UNDERAGE girls into "consensual sex" and it isn't rape. How progressive! In this country, we protect the young and ANYONE having sex with an underage girl or boy is a rapist. Period.

The Soviets did the "heavy lifting"? Tell it to all those gravesites at Normandy, Frenchy.
