It's funny that to give its Bugatti some 'authenticity', Volkswagen went to the trouble of opening a new factory at Molsheim in Alsace, where Ettore Bugatti used to produce his masterpieces, to create its supercar flagship.

There is not much French input in the design of the Veyron which is mostly Germanic in nature. Since Volkswagen already owns Porsche and Lamborghini, one can ask is there was really a need for yet another supercar in the VW group.
