But in order to do that, you'd have to completely get rid of the auto companies. That (and only that) would get rid of the UAW and therefore the Democratic machine.
It would be ugly and painful...but it would work...
...which is precisely what I've been saying all along.
Here is the result of REAL Republicanism, not the "split the difference" type practiced by Bush and Taft. This is what is happening in many places accross the country. The county is a GOP stronghold. Bush and Taft messed up the GOP brand. Real Republicanism gets results. Obama wants to "Ohioize" the whole country

I spent some time in Cleveland by the Clinic on Euclid. What do you encounter there? Panhandlers. Tons of them. Drive down the neighboring streets and you feel your life is at risk,, and this is during the day. I think it is chester, with beautiful homes on one corner, and a crack house on the other corner, Where is the leadership to beat these thugs down ????

I have seen the growth in New Mexico and Arizona. You are right that there are areas that are, or at least were when I visited, growing very fast. But, if you are going to compare the weather, I'd rather stay here. A sunny summer with temperatures of 100 or above during the day can literally kill you. When I was in Albuquerque for two months on business living near Academy and Wyoming the temperature was close to 110-115 during the day. It was impossible to go anywhere because of the heat. So, yes those places are beautiful. But, I prefer Akron. See, the only problem we have are the so alled "public leaders" in this area. We just have to replace them next time we vote and start all over again. I think we can do it but we need NEW BLOOD.
Yeah, the summers are bad, but the rest of the year is beautiful. They only have one $hitty season, we have 2. 6 months of winter and 3 months of hot a$$ humid :(

I left Cleveland 35 years ago and every time I come back, it has slipped further into the death throes. Now some of the suburbs are catching the disease. Maple Heights is a shadow of it's former self. Cleveland will die unless they lose the Kucinich mind set and actually foster a business friendly environment. And being defensive doen't help much, either.

I used to live at Legacy and Independence in Plano.

It was a nice house in a nice neighborhood. We miss it but the opportunity in California was too good to pass up.

Columbus, the only bright spot in Ohio, has a democratic Mayor and it is booming. Next????
Columbus is a sh--hole also. Home invasion robberies/murders, crazed college kids burning up sh-- whether they win or lose at sporting events, constant construction on the highways that never seems to be completed. How is Columbus a bright spot in Ohio?

The ONLY bright spot in Ohio....the whole state is dying. Columbus is all you got so you better take it. NEO is DEFINITELY depressed and depressing. I travel there on business and Thank GOD I do not have to go any further north.
But you're right the whole state is a sh-- hole.

You've never seen the movie Battle of the Bulge.

Rent it. You'll know immediately what I meant.

It's a great scene, by the way. It's worth your time.
