I will be moving to Cannes with my partner, and I will require a job. Please can anyone advise what would be the best way of going about this. I am English, so my French is awful, but this will improve in time.

Any comments welcome.

Cheers, J.

Hi there, I am in a similar situation so if you find out any information that might be useful for me to know I'd be grateful if you could pass it on. Likewise to you! Thanks.

Hi

I too am in a similar situation, I would be really grateful if either of you could pass on any useful information.

I am also looking for any groups set up to help people meet similar people. I am moving with my partner who is French, knowing no one here I am keen to make freinds, I am 29 and moving from London, but like Charlotte, grew up in Solihull!!

Thanks

So far I have managed only 3 interviews with regard to job hunting. And due to the lack of french from my part, I think I have done bloody well.(Open for Scrutiny).

As I have a background with Computers within the financial industry (Don't laugh), i have registered and approached many of the local agencies. Manpower, Adecco, Kelly Service etc.

All the agencies on the whole have been rely quite good. Watch out thought, I'm convinced some of them call you in, just so they get to practice there english.

My advice is to contact the agencies, if you speak french, then you are laughing.

regards

Hey James, I have done a similar thing and sent my CV in recently to a number of these agencies. I am still based in the UK for another couple of months however so I am thinking things are going to be much harder trying to find something whilst still in the UK. I think you've done really well to get three interviews - any successful? How long have you been in France now?

Hope its all going well!

Hi all. I have only just picked up on your conversations. I am also moving to Cannes, France sometime in May. Yes, I am also looking for employment and my French reading writing and speaking is fair and advancing quite well. I will be studying French in Antibes for around a month prior to taking up employment to better my chances. I am though looking for a small group of persons to share rental of a large decent house with pool etc. I don’t mind but I don’t feel like living in 25m squ’s. I am also looking to put together an enthusiastic group to start a business enterprise with the long term view of growing into a lucrative business. Bugger the ‘economic climate’ there are still tonnes of opportunities.

Anyone interested?

Hi All,

I'm Noelle and I am currently living in the UK and work as an English Language lecturer. My husband is French and will be moving to Cannes to start off a photography business this summer. I will hopefully follow soon after once things are more settled, but I am afraid of not being able to continue working because my French is quite basic. I have the idea of working as a freelance English language tutor.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Noelle

Hi Noelle,

I was looking through photography jobs in Cannes and your post came up. I was wondering how your business is going. What kind of photography do you and your husband do? I have been considering going over to learn French and work as a photographer.
Any tips are very much appreciated, thanks

Dear All,
I too moved to South of France in May leaving sunny Ladbrook Grove behind. I teach Yoga/Pilates and Dance and the rest of the time I DJ. It is still a bit of a struggle, especially winter as it is so quiet compared to summer. I am looking for part time work at a gym or health club and although I am already DJing at some bars and clubs accross the cote d'azur, and playing for private parties, birthdays, weddings etc.... Would love to meet more like minded people out here so please feel free to get intouch. sophiecallis@gmail.com and if you know anyone looking for a DJ or a yoga teacher please let me know. Thanks Sophie xx

Hey! Im 22 and i am moving to St Raphael, in between St Tropez and Cannes in March to be with my French Boyfriend! I will be working on a campsite until october as that is my boyfriends family business. After the season I will be attempting, with sucess hopefully, to get a full time job that is not seasonal either in events or marketing!I already speak basic french as i picked up so much last year working for Keycamp. When i move in March i will also enroll for french school! I have a marketing degree and if anyone knows any job links for me let me know! also it would be great to meet new english friends as it can give me headache concentrating on french conversation!
