Edward Justice Sr. was a very close friend and a fellow Vet from the old days during World War II when we were on active duty in the Army Air Corps; whereas Old “Eddio” was a flight engineer, and I was a communication specialist better known as a (Radio Man). After the war Ed and his brothers worked very hard with The Wynn’s Oil & Friction Proofing Company as sub-distributors in the Southern California area. From the early 1950’s all three of the young Justice Brothers were real go getters and very grateful as I recall having the good fortune and opportunity to sell Automotive Additives for the Wynn’s family.
After few years I remember one morning in Glendale California at a Bob’s Big Boy Restaurant on Colorado Blvd when Old Lawrence Justice better known as (Zeke), ask me what I thought about him and his two brothers moving back east to the state of Florida to take on a Direct distribution for the Wynn’s Friction Proofing Company, and also to add the Dry-Power Products as well, they were so excited that “Eddio” and Zeke were about ready to bust a gut waiting with anticipation for my reaction…“O’ boy I told them that when you have the chance to make it BIG “BRING IN THE GOODS (meaning to make money) you better grab the Bull by the horns and hang-on; because you never know where life is going to take you.
You see growing up in Kansas with a father who was a land and equipment Auctioneer had taught the Justice Boys”, never to be afraid to make a BID on good seed, and equipment because you ripe what you sow
Well few years had passed and I received a phone call from Eddio telling me that the Justice Boy’s were back in Californ- I- A, and they were here to stay. Yes indeed, I can remember it like yesterday... that day that Eddio, Zeke, and Gus decided to venture out on their own with a duplicate product to compete with the Wynn’s Family of fine product after the obtaining a loan from the Wynn’s family to purchase a small property in Monrovia, Ca.
You see during the early 1930 the elder of theWynn’s brothers was quite an inventor taking on / on meeting one United States of Americas department of Defense Contract after another. One of the First that proved to be very rewarding was a formula for the U.S. Naval Department, which was a Rope Protection/ anti- corrosive formula that the Wynn's family sold for many years directly to department of Defense. Prior to this the ropes, left untreated, would decay from the salt water in less than year. This formula and others like it made big bucks for the Wynn’s and they were glad to see that this ambesious nature had rubbed off on the Justice boy’s. You the Wynn are being the true Capitalist that they were felt that competition was not only healthy but good for business to give the public a choice. However until the day Eddio died he was always intimidated by the big business that had become of the Wynn’s. And this reflected in the way Eddio raise his two children his son Ed Jr. who is now the President of the Justice Bro’s Car Care products along with his oldest daughter Joyce. I would always tell Eddio to let go and let god, but he always thought that saving and hard work got them to the top, and that at the end of every 20 year trend a new and more powerful company would always rise to the surface. And that fear was always at the helm of Eddie’s decisions, that in itself is what would always fuel the fire when ever Eddio would met with his brothers to make important business decision. Well “Eddio god s in charge now, so rest in peace until we met again god bless, and from one high flyer to another, you will always be my friend in arms. I will truly miss our long midnight conversations. And my love and best wishes go out to you new wife and children, and of course Ed Jr. and Joyce.
