Guess what: curbs are there FOR A REASON! They define the edge of the racing surface - an area within which ALL the cars should be racing. NOT doing their best to 'clip' them as much as possible in the hopes of 'getting under' a driver to overtake on a turn.
You look at some drivers as they spool-around a track and there are corners in which they seem to have no problem at all clipping by more than half the car's width. It almost makes you wonder why they bother enforcing chicanes when it seems to be a free-for-all when it comes to corners and turns.
I would as soon see a continuous margin of zebra striping around both edges of the racing surface (less, of course, pit entry & exit) and sensors on the cars to add-up the seconds of time a car is going over the striping. Then it's just a matter of deducting those seconds at the end of the race.
F1 is supposed to be SO serious about car modifications and equipment to slow the drivers down - how about enforcing track practices?
