Analysis: what will Renault do?

Although Robert Kubica continues to show promising signs of recovery 48hrs after his rallying accident, it is obvious that he is going to be incapacitated for a considerable time.

Well, I guess they're going to be signing up J.V.
It certainly makes sense. After a few hours of practice and familiarization time Jacques would be faster than Petrov plus he is excellent at feedback for car development.

Renault says their short list is Nick Heidfeld, Vitantonio Liuzzi and Bruno Senna. Heidfeld would be a great choice, the other two not so much.

Why not Jacques ?? I m sure that he would be better than Petrov
It would be for a short time... so we would know if JV still has it
It will make im decide if he should continu on

It could be for the entire 20 race season. One rusty old man on the track is enough. Jacques Villeneuve hasnít raced in F1 since 30 July, 2006. Renault needs someone who is a little fresher and closer to race-ready.

get real Mark, Jack has never had it ..... he's an anal retentive idiot ... please one season of fame and glory in F1 in a car that was streets ahead of the opposition, although Schumacher in his then still crappy Ferrari almost kicked his ass ... since then Villeneuve has done nothing, the prick can't even win a race in some pissy racing series in Argentina .... although I must admit seeing the look on his face in 2008 when Audi tore that french heap of crap Peugeot apart at Le Mans was classic ... I'd pay anything to see that again ... poor dumbass frenchie canadian thought he had his winners Rolex in the bag and then wham see you later Jack ... ha ha ha

Villeneuve would be a perfect fit for Renault. That would be a do or die situation for him.

The problem that a lot of people have with Jacques is he has been out of the game for far too long. Four years out of F1 is a lifetime unless something extraordinary happens and they run out of current experienced drivers. As we get older we want to experience memories from our past revisit them, savor them. Having Jacques there would for me bring me back to a time in the late ninties where I lived, ate, breathed F1.
In my heart I would want it but it's not the best for Renault. It's best to move on folks.

Jacques in my opinion shit the money bed.

He came to a crossroads at the end of 97 and while a seat at Mclearan was there he choose BAR with his managers help.
Sure he became very wealthy but his choices led him out of F1.

JV would have less than a month to learn all the positions and functions of the steering wheel controls, the team jargon AND how to drive the new car. Ask Michael how much had changed since he left and then returned.

'Quick Nick' is still Renaults best choice.

Ya! As much as I love the guy the Bar choice was not good for Jacques. He'd never admit that but he had other excellent choices which would have prevented poop brains like "redneck Bob" from making low IQ caustic comments.
I sure hope Heidfeld wins the job as he deserves it. I'd love to see him beat the pants off of Schumaker.

Six months later...

Well, we all know what Renault did initially and what they've done since. Heidfeld brought 34 points and a podium but not much else. Anybody think the switch to Senna was a good one? I don't.
