Both Mercedes drivers qualify well, but Schumacher finishes poorly.

Not true. This season he only retired once due to his fault. His other DNFs were mechanical, beyond his control.

A DNF is a DNF.

Schumi might experiennce what Rubens or Felipe must have felt; to be a number two.
Suppose in Valencia Schumi leads the field in front of Nico Rosberg; his first victory in his second career just before his eyes. And then the radio call from Ross Brawn:"Michael, let Nico pass, we need the points..."

In a Mercedes 1-2 it would be Nico needing the points, not Mercedes. You have posed an interesting situation. Would Ross ask his buddy to step aside to benefit Rosberg? Would Schumacher settle for P2? One thing is sure, the fans and press would go nuts if it happened. I was deeply disappointed when Ferrari told Massa to do it in Germany 2010.

What? When the team fail to put on his tyre properly when he comes out of the pits, when his DRS doesn't Shut and loses mega amount of downforce points, or when he is spun around by grojean while he is in 3rd place is comparable to when he went into the back of senna? And even then, some say senna was ultra twitchy under braking.

You can enumerate the circumstances howsoever you like, but the result is the same. Michael did not finish.

Fine, agreed he did not finish. But to claim he is doing poorly is his fault is outright wrong. He has actually been doing very well this year compared to the previous 2 years. He has had the misfortune of mechanical errors.

I only said he finishes poorly. An average of P16 in 8 races. A part of the problem is the car/team. Another part is Michael. A third problem is a portion of the field has caught or surpassed him in ability and results. I don't see him returning next year. An enormous percentage of the F1 community, myself included, want him to do well, want him to podium and want him to win before he goes.
