you know i never attacked you to start. i stated my opinion on montoya. you dont like it, fine. i am entitled to mine. it does not warrant this. ok? want to have a discussion cool.
i enjoy topix but in general there are way too many immature ppl on here that think that only their opinion/thoughts matter. and anyone that disagrees is attacked. idiotic. absurd.
btw, i stand corrected on your exp in racing. like my father (not implying you are old. LOL) you were around when many changes and advancements took place, he started in dragracing in early 50s. then moved to others until he was driving a 58 Porsche Speester S. then Vietnam happened. no i wont be at summit this weekend. picnic in bullrun today (d@mm it is raining). then solomons on sunday. monday i crew for my cousin in an ameatuer regatta.
picnic today? d@mm i am exhausted. i meant to say saturday. i believe there is an upcoming ferrari club event at summit. i will likely be there.

and you garner your knowledge of nascrap racing from your couch guzzling budweiser?
there is not a nascrap driver alive that can compete against any F1 driver. and dont hand me montoya. he sucked in F1. his record was abyssmal.
btw, i have raced, not F1 and not professionally (1993-1997). scca itr. Dinan BMW 328. thats alot more than you can admit too. but then growing up with money you get to do many kick-a$$ things in life you can only begin to dream of.
David, with all due respect it is hard to take this post as not being a personal attack when you start it with "and you garner your knowledge of NASCRAP racing from your couch guzzling budweiser".

In the middle you state, "i have raced, not in F1 and not professionally (1993 to 1997)scca, ITR, thats a lot more than you can admit to.

Then you end up with, "but then growing up with money you get to do many kick a$$things in life that you can only begin to dream of".

Now you state that you were not bragging about money? Come on, you made the statement at least have the conviction to stick by it, do not act like it never happened.
You made a statement, bristled up your back, threw out your chest and yelled of your accomplishments and your entitlement life, just so happend that you said all of those things to somebody who had done the same things and did them for a longer period of time. Actually doing amature racing is nothing to brag about, I spent many dollars and hours running around Summit Point, VIR and a couple of times at Lime Rock all the time chasing a trophy, at least at South Side I got a check every friday night to cover some of the expence of racing.

David, OK, I am through with the attacks, and we can talk about racing. I will tell you a funny story about the DC Ferrari club that I was involved in at Summit Point two years ago at the Jefferson Historic Races. If you have ever been to the Jefferson you know that if is really a big party and meeting place for many sports car clubs with a few races thrown in just so as to have a reason to congregate. I had spent the weekend at the Jefferson and had camped out and had a ball with the Datsun 510 club, there were 510 sedans that were stock, modified, rust buckets and beautiful restored ones better than the day they came off of the assembly line. Hell, one even had a turbo Mazda rotary 13B engine in it. Well, about 2:00 PM I decided I was going home and I got to the gate and the DC Ferrari club was comming through the gate using all three lanes to include the exit lane, after waiting about three minutes I gased the 510 in the exit lane and came nose to nose with a restored 250, the owner jumped out and said, sir you almost hit my Ferrari, to which I replied, you dam right, why do you think you have the right to hog all three lanes, tell you what back up the red thing or be ready for a Japanese Facial. He backed up, I left and I am sure he thought I was crazy, hell, I might be.

yea thats pretty sucky compared to the drivers on the circuit during that time. considering all the hype some of you are giving him, as tho he were schuy reincarnate. but hey i guess each is entitled to their own opinion.
2001: 6th, 31 points, 1 win, 3 poles (Williams)
2002: 3rd, 50 points, 0 wins, 7 poles (Williams)
2003: 3rd, 82 points, 2 wins, 1 pole (Williams)
2004: 5th, 58 points, 1 win, 0 poles (Williams)
2005: 4th, 60 points, 3 wins, 2 poles (McLaren)
2006: 8th, 26 points, 0 wins, 0 poles (McLaren)
Unless you're a complete idiot, which you seem to be, 4th in F1 is not "sucky". Particularly if you're not driving a Ferrari.

ROFLMAO! I will admit, and even I am guilty, that Ferrari drivers do tend to have a "holier than thou" attitude. I guess we figure if you spend $80, 90, 100k on a car... but no it is no right to act that way.

Was that 250 dark blue perchance? I know at the FCA-MAR events there is a restored 250 that I have been eyeballing. But my wife told me I have enough toys. LOL

Hey, my apologies, and I accept yours too. We shall start over :)

2002:
kimi & coulthard were with mclaren-mercedes in 2002. one of the worst mechanical seasons they had. coulthard and kimi surely would have bumped montoya to 5th. you trying to tell me montoya is better than kimi or coulthard? LOL

2003:
mclaren-mercedes made a team change mid-season. kimi was on his game (tho never as good as schuy!). and ralf shumacher was replaced. a team change mid-season is always disruptive.

btw, do you typically begin discussions with insults and attacks when no one has directly attacked you? i am entitled to my opinion that montoya sucks. you are entitled to yours that he did not.

No problem, it is much better to have you as a friend than an enemy, have a good day.

Montoya "sucked" in F1?....really why don't we have a look at his stats. In his first year 2001 he won a race and finished 6th in the standing. In 2002 he finished 3rd only trailing the two dominate Ferrari's. in 2003 he again finished 3rd but was leading in points going into the second to last race. In 2004 he finished 5th, the last time Williams won an F1 race, and finished 4th in 2005 his last full season. So in 5 full seasons he averaged 4th in the championship standing. He never drove a Ferrari so that means he never drove the best car, so 4th ain't to bad of an average. As a matter of fact, it's pretty damn good. There are alot of guys who sucked in F1. montoya wasn't one of them. That's why a panel of experts rated him the 25th fastest F1 driver of all-time in F1Racing Magazine last year.
Yes and in 2005 Macca threw his burger shaped fat ass out of the team because he was was too oversized to fit into the cockpit. The only series he could get into with that size backside was nascar and he really has done a fantastic job there hey????? 25th fastest all time F1, wow the way you Montoya lovers go on I would have expected him to be in the top 5. I just hope to God that horrid French Canadian Jack Villeneuve is not in the top 25.

It's just experience. If not ask Jeff Gordon how he did on Montoya's Williams F1 car. As I remember it was quite difficult for Gordon
