He ain't taking home the gold though. Jimmie and Jeff aren't going to roll over for anyone, Mark Martin included. He's looking at being the bridesmaid again. After yesterday, They better strenghten the catch fence because I got a feeling Montoya is going to start sending a few that direction.

Where are you getting this nonsense? Martins been in excellent form, so how does that translate to anything less than that? As it stands right now, Johnson has to prove he still has the magic and Gordon is the Hendrick wild card - never know if he's going to finish Johnson fashion or perform like Dale. I'm really uncertain about Gordon's chance to place 5th or better in the standings at the end. I'm thinking Martin Johnson Stewart, Hamlin, Busch.

I wouldn't call what Johnson has magic, its called talent. And he doesn't have to prove anything. He makes the chase every year and won three in a row. So he's pretty much proven himself already. I think Jeff is going to be a factor as will Tony. Montoya and Hamlin will put up a good fight tho. Martin is a longshot. Just my thoughts.

Jimmie and Jeff don't have to roll over for Mark to win the championship. Mark will do it without anyone rolling over...

just look at performance. the "sport" is pretty simple. there are a few cars better than the rest. this year its been 14 / 48 / 5 / 42. and the 11 lately.

14 / 48 were easily stringest first half. 5 and 42 easily second part of season. right now it looks like the 48 is haven't more trouble finishing races. the 5 is finishing stronger. the 42 and 11 are bad fast most weeks, but that won't stick - plus they will take themselves out. the 14 is junk. J-U-N-K.

right now based on performance its the 5 standing out, with the 42 and 11. 48 is the sleeper. i won't bother with the 24. he's lucky to be in the chase at all. same with 9, 99, 16, 2 and whoever else snuck in. i really can't even think of them... oh. 83. whatever. one more? oh, newman. whatever.

5 needs good luck, that's all.

I don't suppose my choice of avatar would be a clue that I'm quite aware of Johnson's performance. Its almost a habit for me to announce he's never ended a season lower than 5th in points. If you choose not to call it magic, that's up to you, but it wouldn't be the first time someone's implied that what the 48 team has is magic. I mean, of all the active teams, its the only team that's made the chase every time, and even before the chase, he managed top 5 seasons. I agree - each member of the crew, the crew chief, the car owners and everybody else have skill, great work ethics, etc. But when I try to bring it down to a 1-word description,'magic' seems to be one of the few words that works, because it implies that there's a trick to it, which apparently there is.
