let's be honest, of all the drivers out there, not one really does stand out anymore, the racing has been pathetic the past few seasons, and if the best out there are the likes of Hewey Lewey and Dewey and hairy faced Jenson, maybe Schumie sees it as a possibility that in a good car he could do some good ...

of course the other reason could be his big pal Jean Todt, maybe The Beak wants Schumie back to help boost F1 again, there is no doubt that Schumie will draw crowds, and sure that will help little Bernie too, but it would certainly cement Jean's standing in the FIA thumbs up pole if he gets F1 off to a flyer in his first year as El Capitano ...

And finally it could also be that Schumie knows what the make up of the Ferrari will be next year, and knows he will have shot at beating them with the merc, which means he would kick Alonso's ass, at a time when El Torro is finally drivig for the prancers, you know his dream, the worhitters dream .... it would all come crashing down in a hurry ...

HEy Library gal, nice to have you back, where do I sign up for the FOFA deal.

In the grand scheme of things I reckon Herr Schumie made a fantastic return to F1. While 6th is possibly a failure to him, considering he's been out for 3 full seasons, is 41 and is driving a car so vastly different form the 2006 ferrari, he held it together pretty well. Part of the problem is Schumie likes a car with oversteer, and unfortunately the 2010 machines are prone to understeer. The man will adapt, and make no mistake Ross and his gang will be working overtime to improve the merc. I have no doubt they will win races, Schumie has said it's a 3 year effort. One thing is for sure, despite the boring racing we saw in Bahrain, and the fact that millions tuned in to see Alonos in a Ferrari and Massa back on track, probably 99% of the fans were glued to see "how Schumie would do"

As for my beloved Ferrari, let's just say I was 75% thrilled, the 25% unfortunately the 1/4 of the team known to me as El Torro. After his behaviour in recent years, including his pissy behaviour at Macca and his involvement in Spygate and crashgate, what little chance I ever had of cheering for him went down in flames, of course that does not mean I don't respect him as a driver, he is very good. I read that everyone expects him to now go after Schumie's records ... well that is funny, he is 69 wins behind MS and still 5 WDC, and while I do expect Ferrari and Alonso to win, keep in mind that while the Worshitters rejoice, it was only on the back of a Vettel car failure that he was able to win. As the season progresses so will the competiton, and only a fool will dare to believe that Alonso is going to dominate the F1 world for the next 5 or 6 years to the same extent that MS did in the 2000's.

Do Ferrari have one up on MS and Merc, maybe, but MS has 2 up on them with that magic advert with the conveniently RED SLS, the proof of that was the way Luca was so outraged by it all. Let the games continue ....

Good to hear from you Redneck!
I may be a Fonz fan but that certainly doesn't mean I don't respect all the other guys on the grid! I certainly don't expect him to dominate either- that sort of stuff is not good for the sport in my view- and i certainly expect Flipper to give him a very good run for his money- great to see him back.
As for Merc- sure with the combination of Schu and Ross they will not be behind for long. I am just fed up with the hype here in Germany- its like there is only one driver on the grid and that makes me pretty annoyed!

hey cowboy I'm fine and well. Just taking a little bit of time to chill. That Alonso Massa deal in Germany left a very bad taste in my mouth, and the response from most of the worshitters on this forum has proven to me they are not F1 fans but rather love sick Alonso worshitters. And it's not because it's Alonso that I'm pissed with the Germany result, I have always been very vocal in my coondemnation of Austria 2002, my views on all that have always been based on the fact that Schumie was so embarrassed by it all he refused to take the winners step on the podium, but the decision was appalling. Just like it was in Germany. There is no justification for it, the logic that Alonso has a better chance of winning the title at that time was bogus, had Massa and Alonso been allowed to race and Massa had kept his lead, he would have been a mere 25 points behind Alonso, not exactly a huge gap given the number of points still up for grabs. You know last year I said I hoped Ferrari have a really rough season, well wouldn't it be hysterical if it came down to the final race of the season, Alonso does not finish and Massa ends up being 9 points adrift of the champion. That would make my entire year ....

Bob you said it spot on. I lost alot of respect for big red when it went down. Of all days 1 year to the date. It was cold and brutal, Massa certainly for almost paying with his life didnt deserve that. You think he'll be looking for another team?

sadly no, he's a company man through and through, and that's part of the problem. Maybe he's submissive, but to me what he has done at ferrari makes him superb, especially under such dificult circumstances. he is a character, totally unpredictable and that makes him fun to watch ...
