If JV is such a poor driver...how about qualifying 6th at Talledega ahead of ALL TWELVE chase drivers?

What was that...luck?

Redneck Bob your analysis is spot on. I have to say that I was a Villeneuve fan for many years being a fellow Canadian you always support your own, but aside from his first two years the rest was down hill and I guess in the long and short of it he has no one to blame but himself, bad manager, bad career choice and many many mistakes. I know that the original Villeneuve that we saw in 96/97 would be a dream come true for many fans and he would have to step up his game to match the precission of a master and the spirit of the young talents. So maybe your penmanship isn't spot on but your observations are.
Ozzy
hey Ozzy, thank you. Sadly so many of these JV love hungry folks really don't have all the facts. Sure the lad was good, I cannot and never have professed to believe that I or many on this forum are even in his league, but in terms of F1 drivers, he was a failure. Sure he won a WDC, sure he beat the great Schumie, but to be honest the Williams was streets ahead in terms of speed and relaibility. Ferrari were in the middle of a nightmare, their last constructors was in 1983, their last drivers champ was in 1979, and in the 5 yrs leading up to 1996 they had won a total of 5 races. During that time Williams were dominating, funny that they should have in 94 and 95 but Schunmie in again an inferior car (Benneton) kicked their asses, albeit under somewhat dodgy terms in 1994 with Hill and Schumie. You know with the car Ferrari had in 1997, JV sjould never have had to wait to Jerez to win the WDC, he shoul dhave destroyed the rest, and I base my assumption sthat he was really not great based on things like that. But I certainly don't hate JV, I'm sure in his own way he's a nice guy, but the way he cried like a baby to the world about every driver that beat the snot out of him on the racetrack was an embarrassment, not just to him but to his great dad Gilles, a man I had the utmost respect for, and followed while he was alive with great interest and excitement. To this day I am convinced we were robbed of seeing probably one of the greatest drivers F1 would have known, kind of along the lines of the way we lost Ayrton Senna. Maybe the right word I need to use is disappointing, he showed his lact of ability to be a good sportsman by shouting his mouth off just because he was getting his ass kicked. That's sad. As for the rest I say many of the things I just to piss off the the JV lovers, and it works, notice the wicked insults and hate that gets thrown at me. ha ha but I love it, and in the end if you clear away all the shite, the points that I have made a not only valid but factually correct. Better than writing that JV is the greatest driver ever ... duh I mean even a chimpanzee knows that's bullcrap ....

yes, and Takumo Sato passed Fernando Alonso at the Canadian GP (not during qualifying but in the actual race) in 2007, but that certainly does not make him better than the 2 X WDC ... come now Louise, even you are smarter than to spew that crap ... for goodness's sake it's nascrap you're talking about here ... a series where a 50 yr old has a shot at winning ... round and round and round round ... left turn, left turn, left turn ... zzzzzzzzzzz

not all rednecks are southern fit of all, and not all are lower than any shite Louis, just like not all canadians are morons ... well ok most are .... the french lot most certainly are ... I think you get the point ... really the Redneck deal is to cause chaos. It is amazing how often folks out there find it in their ignorance to rather insult me, my family, the American nation, rednecks, in breeding etc etc rather than to debate or discuss the points at hand. Just take the sheep shagger from down under Mick, he says hates me. he doesn't know me, has said absolutely nothing of worth regarding jack Villeneuve, yet he wants to and I quote "start throwing rocks at me and my inbred family" Now I ask you with tears in my eyes ... what the f*** has any of that got to do with the fact that Jack Villeneuve is most certianly not the greatest driver ever..... The points I made about Jack winning just one race since 1997 is not a thumb suck, it's the truth. The points I made about him having a big mouth are not pie in the sky, yet his only response is to ... throw rocks at me?????... it just highlights what an absolute moron he is ..... and it's funny you can highlight the idiots within the first 2 or 3 posts. Every person on this forum I get to debate gets the once over, and many of them out there are big mates, because they want to talk F1, they passionate about it all, and that's why I have 5000 + postings on this forum, because betwen all the stick and chirping I throw at people, I know what the hell I'm talking about. I've been a passionate F1 fan for 35+ yrs now. Louis, you're a good guy ... even for a beaver beater .... ha ha ha.

By the way I'm from the land of Afrique de Sud. hosts to the greatest show on eath ... the world cup 2010. Now wait for poor poor Muck to scream and shout ... those ex cons from down under hate us South Africans, we better cricketers than they are and way better rugger players than they are ..

we only respond to intelligent crap John ... ha ha .. hey nobody disputes he was a good driver, but that was in the very early days, kind of before his ego got in the way. The last time he did anything great was in 1997. Since then he's been a total failure, when the chips were down he should have dug deep, but instead he faded away, trading his abundance of skill for a self pitying cry baby citisizing style that not only made him look pathetic, but showed him to be a very bad loser ..... Personally I don't care either way if he comes back to F1, there is no way he will perform, he just doesn't have the ambition, he's living off his past successes ... maybe he should read one of Schumie's book ... he could learn a thing or 2 about class, determination and how to be a winner ...

you illiterate jackass, that's what a forum is ... everyone has a point of view, as I've said before if you want peace and harmony join a freaking church choir. At least I put the points of view forward for you to talk about ... I don't doubt and have never doubted that he began his career with some impressive stuff, indy and F1. But tell me you think his record of winning 1 race in all competitions since his WDC in 1997 is a good record. Come on the bloke can't even win in a touring car race in Argentina. Good grief, that's 12 yrs of racing win 1 win ... great no, good hmmm, average not even, a useless waste of talent .. absolutely. oh and by the way, I'm not the ignorant dumbass who finshes his post off with "fuck you, end of story" ... debate the issues Muck, you cannot declare a driver as a great, if the records prove otherwise. Ok so you like the bloke, we all get that, actually I think you're a little obsessed, which is creepy to say the least but feeling don't write records.

The most annoying thing about this idiot is not that he rips on JV. Everyone has a different opinion, some people like JV some don't, I can respect that, I don't feel an urge to rip on someones post because its a different view to mine. No the most irritating thing about this (All Knowing) idiot is that whenever anyone wants to post anything about JV, this idiot thinks he has to turn it into a debate and war. The idiot doesn't realize that not everyone cares about or wants to constantly hear his opinion. If he wants to comment on a thread fine post it, but every single time someone else adds a post doesn't mean they want to hear his insults on their view. Clearly this guy thinks he knows more than every one else about F1, but even if that were true, people can make up their own opinions and don't need to put up with him constantly insulting peoples country's of origin, insulting them with lame nicknames and man, i could go on. Simply put this idiot is wrecking the forum, as im sure there are a lot more interesting people than him that have been put off posting any further comments on News Topix because of this douches constant harassment.

let me ask you a ? red ass bob.if jacque was in shumacher seat those 5 years and he had teammates who would pullover so he could get a win dont you think villenueve would have more titles ,or do you beleive michael shumacher is the only driver out there that could have won titles in that car?

John, if you had a clue you would know that Schumie spent the first 4 years before that magic run began helping create that perfect ferrari. Along with Brawn, Byrne and Todt Schumie turned ferrari around from a joke on the grid to where they are today, but it was most certainly not an overnight change. Schumie most certainly did not just sit his ass down in the best car on the grid, as so many of you think he did. Jackie Stewart believes the role Schumie played in turning the Ferrari team around was his greatest feat. Jack could not do that, I don't think anyone else could. Sure the lads at ferrari had an open check book, but you still need to design and create the perfect machine. I wonder how many drivers would have worked with the team the way Schumie did, not only when they were winning, but when they had, as Alain prost described it in 1996 ... a pig of a car. Give credit where it's due John, if Jack was that type of driver, he would have taken BAR from a joke and got them to at least win races ... that never happened.

But the thing that pissed me the most about Jack was not his driving skills, he was a pretty decent driver, but rather the way he chose to critisize and mouth off about not just Schumie, but so many of the other drivers out there. That showed just plain bad sportsmanship.

Oh and by the way John, being an Indy resident, you should have known that during the race in Indy in 2002, Schumie allowed Rubens to pass him for the win as repayment for the Austria circus. If you knew anything about that whole deal too, you might have known that it was not Schumie who made the call for Rubens to slow in Austria, but the team boss Jean Todt. Schumie was so pissed by it all, he would not take the top step of the podium after the Austrian race, pushing Rubens up there instead, and giving Rubens the winners trophy. That show of "bad sportsmanship" on Schumie's part cost him and the team $1mil in fines. But keep in mind that at that time team orders were still a part of F1 racing, and while the decision was rediculous to say the least, it was certainly not illegal.

WOW!MAYBE YOU NEED STEP BACK AND WIPE SHUMIES DICK OFF YOUR BREATHE.I THINK YOU MISSED A SPOT ON HIS NUTSACK THERE RED ASS BOB.BUT IM GLAD TO SEE THAT YOU ADMIT THAT IT WAS THE CAR AND NOT SHUMIES SUPER HUMAN RACING ABILILITY THAT WON ALL THOSE TITLES.AND THE ONLY THING BAD ABOUT HIM PUSHING RUBENS TO TOP OF THE PODIUM WAS SHUMIES ACTING JOB.ONE MORE THING IF HONDA SPENT THE TYPE OF MONEY THAT FERRARI DOES IM SURE JACQUE WOULD HAVE WON MORE THAN A CUOPLE OF RACES.
