I was a fan of JV, but he had his chance and instead of going for more wins and championships he went for the really big money. Remeber BAR? Not a chance in hell to win, just big bucks. It is time for young drivers who still do it for the love of the sport. Again he is going to race for someone without a chance to win. What a waste of talent. Poor judgement after he won championship.

I see nothing wrong with Jacques coming back to F1,(for a year at least) he will be a hugh assist in helping develop a new team, he one of the best at doing that I think?
On the other hand I can't see him winning any more GP's in F1, a colourful character to watch none the less!

Hibbie,
Not exactly the case. JV was promised the moon by Honda and Bar to build a team around him. Along with that came the serious money.(Would you pass on that?)
Then Honda split their interests with Jordan.
Greg Pollack being a novice at everything failed to get more for the team and managed things poorly. I think JV messed up trying to remain loyal to BAR. He had opportunity to drive elsewhere before Richards took command, which ended up sealing his fate.

I would love to see JV return, and possibly Shumacher as well. It would be great if JV's ride is competetive and we can see some classic battles again!!

I seriously doubt that Schumacher would have seven WDC's if Jacques had been in a competitive car.
It would be fantastic if they both returned in 2010!!!

Great to see a real Canadian hero coming back to the sport. All the best to Jacque and the team and hopefully there will be a competitive car for him to run with.
Time the world sees that Button was just lucky and not the "driver" everyone was screaming about! Wasn't anyone watching his preformance with Honda? In the end, Reubens deserved better treatment then he got from Brawn! If not for him, who would have won the constructor's championship?
Lotus or Renault, GO JACQUE GO!

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha get real Louis, if you believe that you're seriously dillusional. JV has about as much talent as Schumie has in his little finger. JV won his WDC in a more superior car than Schumie had in 1997, and in the end he could only manage it by crying like a spoilt brat and having Schumie DQ'ed. In 1994 and 1995 the benneton was an under performing and less competitive car than the Williams, yet Schumie took both years, because of skill and ability. The fact that JV actually won 1 WDC is in itself a miracle, if I was you I'd leave it at that, chill out and listen to Jack's CD, after all everyone knows he's a better singer than he is a driver... and we all know he sings like shite ...

Sorry Bob Neck Reed you apparently can't help yourself (or anyone else) with your pathetic anti-JV rhetoric. JV could still drive a F1 car and move it to the front. If Petrov's mystery Commy Bank doesn't come up with the rubles as reported today - you may have to not watch F1 this year because JV may be partnering with Robert. And I know that would just ruin the whole deal for ya. Sorry - you can always watch the swamp buggy races.

Another beaver beater with a blinded love for one of the biggest failures in F1. The only reason Jack got a drive at Williams or in F1 for that matter was because of his Father's name. Sure he won the WDC, but in a far superior car to anything else of the grid, even though he was taken to the limit by Schumacher in the at the time inferior Ferrari. After 1997 he went into total failure. He is a joke, he could not handle having his ass whipped and resorted to squealing like the dumb pig he truly is, critisizing every single driver who kicked his ass on the track, and there were many, even the unknown at the time Takumo Sato was good enough see Jack kiicked out of BAR. Sato was a F3 driver at the time. Of course his favourite person to hate was Schumacher, probably because jack was of the opinion that because he was a Villeneuve he was an automatic choice for the Scuderia, and when that never panned out because he was just an average driver, he was so bitter. He even tried to sing, which by all acounts was at least more successful than his F1 racing career, at least he sold a few CD's hey ... few being the operative word ... his last CD sold less than 850 CD's in North America .. ha ha ha ha as I said he's a joke and an embarrassment.

Seems for you Mugwa the only time Jack has shown any promise is when he was in a series that drove around oval tracks for 5 millon laps, only left turns and boring shite ... you know the swamp buggy racing types. Of course he even tried to win at Le Mans, but even in the superior Peugeot he had his ass kicked by the Audi's. Seems he has a history of being F***ed up by Germans. Must be the French half in him, failure is a way of life hey. Maybe they should put him in a Renault, after all they are already failures, he would fit right in.

Oh and by the way Mugwa, just in case you were wondering, since his WDC in 1997 Jack has one just 1 race.. umm that's in 12 yrs in series including F1, Le Mans series, Le Mans 24 hr, TRV6 Series (a racing series in Argentina ... talk about scratching the bottom of the barrel) and the swamp buggy Nascar Nationwide series combined.

Wow ... I can't wait to see him try "drive an F1 car and move it to the front" ... ha ha ha ha you're right I just can't help myself ... ha ha ha but it's so easy when it comes to JV, he's a f***ing clown ...

Redneck Bob your analysis is spot on. I have to say that I was a Villeneuve fan for many years being a fellow Canadian you always support your own, but aside from his first two years the rest was down hill and I guess in the long and short of it he has no one to blame but himself, bad manager, bad career choice and many many mistakes. I know that the original Villeneuve that we saw in 96/97 would be a dream come true for many fans and he would have to step up his game to match the precission of a master and the spirit of the young talents. So maybe your penmanship isn't spot on but your observations are.

Hey Booob

Perhaps you forget a few items if you want to refer to J.V.s achievements.
Pole position in first race 96 Australia (by a huge margin)- not bad for racing a car and circuit new to him. Oil leak prevented first win.
First win at the Nurb in Germany with Shu pressuring him for the last half of the race (remember Alesi the year before...) JV made no mistakes and SHU had no chance.
Passing SHU on the outside of the last corner of Estoril (one of the best passes in F1) and then passing Hill during pitstops to win. Even Michael was shocked that he was passed there and could only comment "it was dangerous" - of course he woudl know all about that....
97 - World Champion - I don't care if the car was the best - it still takes talent to win the works.
I remember SHU checking the Williams rear suspensionand tyres after the Spanish GP because JV kept the tires from blistering while everybody else was burning them out. But if you have irrational hate issues then you will just need to live with yourself - I dare say no one else would... It must be sad to pt others down just to make yourself feel a little better.
I don't criticize SHU for winning with the dominant red cars for a number of years running - or Senna/Prost in 88/89 when nothing could touch them. But if it is JV you have some emotional issues that cloud your thoughts - maybe you just can't forgive JV for causing Michael to ruin his reputation at Jerez in 97 - I am sure you put Hill in the same category as JV because of 94 no doubt. To think that they would dare to get in Michael's way.
98 and a Mechachrome engine... still managed podium at Hockenheim by runnig less wing than anybody else to compensate and pushed the car all year. Could have gone to any team in the paddock (ferrari aside) at the end of 98.
Mistake going to BAR in 99 - still managed to qualify 4th at Imola but the clutch failed at the start... mechanical problems all year.
After this he had indifferent results but when possible would get results.
Just typing this quick during lunch so going by memory but I think you get the picture. He is popular for a reason - on track and off he is a force though keeping his mouth shut may have served him well on occaision.
I dare say he would be faster than 1/2 the grid with today's group and the need keeping tyres from degrading and driving with full tanks.
Anyways - got to finish my sandwhich
