The lack of points scored reflect more on the Toro Rosso team than any driver employed by them. That team SUX to say the least. M. Schumacher couldn't score points for this team.
I will enjoy watching Scott enjoy racing success back in the US.
I agree, Minardi sucked and now, under it's new incarnation, as Toro Rosso it isn't much better. Minardi failed to score a point in about half of it's 20 year run and Toro Rosso is following along in similar form. Then again Red Bull and Toro Rosso are new to F1 and it takes some time to get competitive.

This guys career is OVER if he is forced to take a ride in the crappy IRL.
That is some really HORRIBLE "racing" and the chances of him snapping his back or worse are really high.

ChampCar is this young talents best bet if he wants a good competetive series, a safe car and a place to develop his skill set.

Plus, RED BULL has already bailed on the IRL and is now firmly embedded with their sponsorship dollars in the Champ Car World Series. They saw NO value in the hapless, misdirected IRL with no fanbase to market to.

Good Luck in Champ Car SS!!

Should Bourdais take Speed's ride or wait for a real opportunity in F1?

I wonder, Speed to CCWS (Newman-Haas)or IRL (Penske)?

Ummm... Luigi that rhymes with squeaky. Now come on outa your IRL/NASCAR closet and admit that the only reason you came to America was to see some real racing. Chao baby.

True, it does take some time. I think it will be interesting to see what Vettel can do with them. Probably not much, considering the car is pretty poor in just about every category. But he's got real talent, and getting into a race seat and getting some experience should help him in the future, especially since the pool of young talent is pretty shallow. Best of luck to him.

was there any passing in the F 1 race this year. I think the irl and the Nascar race had more passing in first half of lap then the FI guys they whole race.

It seems obvious that the Speed/Toro Rosso combination wasn't working. Toro Rosso has had it's share of mechanical problems (gearbox failures) this year so I don't think it is completly fair to lay all the blame on Scott. But then again, Scott hasn't really produced when there weren't problems. Hopefully we'll have another American driver in F1 soon.
The driver is the least important factor in an F 1 car. The races are mostly qualifying followed by a parade.
European drivers are gutless to attempt American style wheel to wheel racing.

You Champ Car idiots kill me! At least some people outside the racing world have heard of the IRL thanks to the Indy 500 and Danica...The IRL is a much better place to be in terms of exposure. No one even knows about Champ Car besides the teams and a few fans! Going to CCWS would be a death blow to his career, as it is about as relevant as Arena Football's AF2 (their minor league). Give me a break. IRL has some road courses, some more ovals, and the INDY 500. Champ Car has a bunch of street parades and virtually no exposure. The choice is easy!

So much To comment on here. Lets not bash F1 too much, if you were at the USGP there was passing, however its hard to see it if all you care about is the leader. I personally think that this years GP was a very good one. Now on the other side of the fence... bashing americans for not getting F1 is just as dumb. Most americans are not exposed to F1 at all and so have no chance to enjoy it or have an opinion. It is poorly marketed here in the states and unless you are willing to wake up at 3 am to watch a race, its hard to follow. I personally follow it, IRL, and Champ Car. It will be interesting to see where Speed Racer goes. Good luck to him!

Each form of racing is good in it's own way. They each have something to offer or they just wouldn't exist. Scott wasn't any worse than Vitantonio, in fact he wasn't any worse than half the F1 drivers. The Toro Roso just didnt mount to a steaming pile of ---- and the team principals took it out on him. Good luck Vettel, you're gonna need it!

It is sad to see F1 abandon the manufacturers largest market as well as Red Bull abandoning the american driver promoted as the reason for starting an F1 team. I have attended numerous 500's both pre and post split only to see the quality drop drastically. Speed couldnt compete in the equipment provided which led to a shoving match with team principle. I find it odd Speed was the driver let go when he has outperformed his Italian teammate. Hopefully we will see SS in the Spyker camp next season.

I have no problem with you desperately trying to get a job, but why are you seeking IRL employment?
As for F1, it's going down the toilet as we speak.
