Michael Schumacher's manager says the Retired Formula One champion's condition is stable and has not changed since doctors said he showed small signs of improvement.

I don't understand why some articles say they don't know when or if they will bring him out of a medically induced coma. I understand the "when" part, but I don't understand the "if" part. Eventually they wil have to bring him out of the coma, won't they?
