Given that most of the teams, regardless of which country they are on paper officially, are supra-national organizations, does it really matter?

3 countries supply engines: U.K., Germany and Italy. Even the Redbull Renault engine is made in the U.K. But most of the teams, except Ferrari, have their bases in the U.K., and use drivers from all over the world.

Team USF1 tried a one-country approach for the 2010 season and failed badly. First they could not find an American 2.4-liter V8 engine capable of revving to 19000 rmp. So, they sourced one from Cosworth. Then they could not find a suitable American driver and ended up hiring an Argentinian. Then they could not get an American-made carbon-fibre chassis made in time and left the stage.

I don‘t think supporting say, a British team or driver is necessary because you happen to come from the UK. I say support who you want.
