Trying to define just how bad the Raiders play

Full story: Eureka Times Standard

Calling the Oakland Raiders horrendous is insulting. No, not for the team, but for the word.

Let me guess, San Francisco fan?!!! Al Davis is the reason most Raider fans are fans...He brought 3 Championships to the Raider organization and has done more for Football then any other person since the inception of the NFL. What a loser you are to say someone should die(be embalmed) because things haven't gone well lately. Get a grip! better yet, get a life you loser!

I will give you a pass this time as you are probably an ardent fan and facepainter. My family comes from Eureka but I grew up in the East Bay (Bay Area). I was a Raiders fan since the get-go.1960.
I remember when they played on a ordinary field with bleachers down by the airport. I am sure that he has done good things for the Raiders in the PAST as I have witnessed it. But when he moved the team to L.A. in 82' what he did was to turn his back on all the die-hard fans, a ton of season ticket holders that paid a lot of guaranteed money for years and all the boosters. They helped to make that franchise what it was. Then Davis simply doesn't get his way with the City of Oakland, has a tantrum, and moves them down south which was the biggest insult to the Original Raiders Fans one could imagine. The guy had to hire bodyguards as his phone was ringing off the hook with death threats. BUT anyway...they came back to Oakland eventually. And to cut this short, about 2 out of 3 sportswriters say Al Davis is the Problem. Make that almost 3 out of 3. Try to understand. Because of the Big Screw in 82' a lot of people still do not like or trust Al Davis. And you get a life, silly facepainter.

First, I don't face paint, Although If I lived there I would be a season ticket holder and probably would get decked out! I can respect the longevity as I have followed since the late 70's. That said, your first mistake is listening to the sportswriters. They all claimed AL Davis was at fault for Kiffin not succeeding and then come to find out Kiffin threw a tantrum because Davis wouldn't let him hire his dad as D-Coordinator...Was it the right move? who knows....the D has been decent and has been a big reason for what little success we have had this year. Then Kiffin tried to through one of his assistant under the bus....that coupled with Davis going after(and getting) the best players available in the off season leads me to believe he is still a good thing for the Raiders...Soes he sometimes make mistakes? Absolutely...but he always tries to put us in a position to win...I am not a Davis apologist but I do think people suck as yourself unfairly want rid of him...He wants to win and is willing to do what he has to....to make it happen. I too hated when they moved to LA but you have to keep in mind it is a business. I still stand by my loser get a grip ccomment as there is no need to wish Al to die even if he may or may not be screwing up the Raiders....

I wouldn't give up on Russell just yet. It's only his first season as a full time starter. If any of our recent first round picks should be called a bust it's Michael Huff. Gallery struggled at tackle but found a home a guard. Washington is no longer with us. Huff started every game at safety for his first 2 years and was benched this year and only has one career INT. Last year it was Washington that got benched and traded at the end of the year. If they don't do that to Huff, then he's Derrick Gibson all over again.

Look at it this way....In Elways first season he had 7 TD's and 14 INT's....Russell has 7 TD's and 6 INT's and we still have a couple games. So Texas Raider is right, it's too early to give up on him. He needs a better WR core and some strong play calling...he will be alright.

Not to mention that Elway lined up behind a guard on his first ever NFL play...

Mr. Davis is still hoping that the Snake will reappear, sadly, young Mr. Russell is not fit to carry Kenny's cleats.

Time marches on and Mr. Davis is past his prime, the game has moved on and changed. In no small part to the work of that same Mr. Davis, but the changes he forced have out-paced his ability to adapt.

Lane Kiffin was a mistake, not at all ready for head coach in the NFL, however, Tom Cable is not an improvment. There is some very talented, capable individuals on the roster, but they are not a team, not a cohesive unit and until something, or someone comes along to make that happen, the losing will continue. Perhaps, if Mr. Davis accepts the inevitability of time.....but, doubtful, beside, his son, Mark is scheduled to take over and the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.(could not resist the cliche)

"He wants to win and is willing to do what he has to....to make it happen. I" Yeah he wants to win.
He wants to make MONEY. Since Kiffen has gone I have noticed the Raiders playing a little better. The tension is gone. Try to understand something.
Al Davis is at an age where he is not making the best decisions. And I don't "wish for him to die" that is your comment and inference. But I tell you this.
Al Davis will possibly run the Raiders into the ground and it won't get better until the team is wrenched from his cold stiff fingers. He won't
let go. The Sign of an Aged Maniac.
"there is no need to wish Al to die even if he may or may not be screwing up the Raiders...."
I NEVER said that. You did. And you really don't seem to know what he is doing. You ain't a "loser".
But your definitely not a Winner...

Whatever. Read into my post whatever which-way
you want. My message is kind of tongue-in-cheek.
In any case, I am glad that you are a Raiders Fan.
Please stay that way.

And Yes, Al needs to be Embalmed!
If you do that, you can just prop him
up in his Throne in his Luxury Box
and nobody will know the difference.
He's got way to much control and I
believe that hurts the franchise.
