If Goodman was not "relaxed" in the Capers D, just imagine J. Allen. How come no one in the media mentioned that "maybe" Allen was a "bust" because of the complicated D? Way to go guys for your always insightful commentary.

I'm a Dolfan that's about winning. Yes I have memories of the "hook & ladder" in 1981.(Great play, great comeback, great highlight reel; but bottom line is that we didn't finish and thus we lost.) I've seen JJ's teams start the season off like gangbusters, but peter out at the end of the season and get themselves humiliated in the playoffs. Even the teams that went to SB XVII & SB XIX lacked the completeness needed to take it all.
This time in Dolphin history is even deeper than when Shula took command in 1970. We're rebuilding a team from the ground up. We don't have the privileges of an expansion team. This is about fixing a team that has been exposed for many years and finally came crashing down to earth in shambles.
I'll be excited about our offense when we consistently average 4.5 yds per carry on the ground, limit the penalties due to mental errors, and move the chains.
Let's get the foundation in first. Let's build an OL that kicks a**. We have Ricky and Ronnie who would love to run behind a solid OL. Zonk, Kiick, & Merc blossomed when the team had the foundation of Little, Kuech, Evans, Langer, Moore, & Fleming escorting them.
After that, I'll get excited over breakaway runs we had on a consistent basis with Merc (Ronnie & Ricky may give us some.), or a Kiick, Twilley, Nat Moore, or Jensen type converting a critical 3rd down, or a Warfield, Duper, or Clayton bringing devastation to a defense.
Many considered our winning SB teams as boring. The running game was giving the defense a mugging, and I would get excited waiting for a moment when Merc would break one or Warfield would strike.
This new regime is about building a winning foundation for a long time. Shula had his guys train with gassers. The Tuna's regime has this team training for hard-nosed toughness all year round.
I don't get excited over players running their smack and "me-meing" after making one play. I get excited over making it a habit to kick a**, take names, and win.
AND don't forget that you have to have toughness on defense and special teams as well. I enjoy a defense that plays physical, hits hard, intimidates, and gets their share of turnovers as well. I enjoy watching the other team's offense feel the pressure and break down from it to where they make the mistakes.
I'm just plain sick and tired of losing like masochists and making excuses. Let's build the winning foundations together. The team needs the fans to buy into it as well as the players.
remember the days when they would take the opening kickoff and ram the ball down the other teams throat for a 7-0 lead without passing but maybe once. They would then hold the other team to 3 and out and then run the ball down their throats again for 14-0 lead in 1st quarter. I don't remember how many times they did this but it probably was a NFL record that hasn't been broken yet. I would guess their 1st possision percentage was above 50 percent during their glory years. Whats amazing is the other team knew what we were going to do and they just couldn't stop us.

Have any of you watch a boxing match and one of the opponents threw single punches while the other threw combinations. As a ex boxer I can tell you it's all about conditioning.

When an athlete’s in top physical shape, he doesn’t have to think about throwing combinations, they just come instinctively. That is the reason behind the conditioning program and keeping the system simple. Somebody said it earlier, it will go from react to attack, can’t wait to see.

This is exciting. It seems that every player has been saying great things about the new coaching staff and Parcells (the man upstairs). Maybe it's because they genuinly like this regime or it's because they are afraid of being cut if they say anything negative. Either way, they are being motivated and this is starting to look and sound like a tight team. I'll admit that I was one of those that felt 3 or 5 wins this season at the most, but as the season gets closer I'm starting to think the Phins are going to surprise a lot of people.
I like the comment from McCown:
"Parcells and Co. purposely brought in "hungry" players who have yet to establish themselves because it creates an almost desperate atmosphere.
"I promise you someone that needs money will cut your grass a lot better than someone who doesn't need money," McCown said.
I have been looking for a new lawn service, maybe I should wait for the next team cuts. lol
Mmmmmmm they always say the same about every year about the new coaches....bla bla bla Let´s see how they play!!!
But as the players said. " Now we have time to relax prior each play" so I would not be very exited about this comment, if they want to relax they should go to Vegas not on the field were I have paid billions of dollars over the past 10 years..........

I get excited to read the articles of how players feel more comfortable and the attitude that is sweeping through the locker room. You always hear that football is a mental game and with that being said it looks like the Dolphins are going in the right direction. The words "hungry" and "passionate" go a long way in this game. i always go into each season with a positive outlook for Miami, and this year is no different. The foundation of this team is now stronger than it has been in a long time. Now the Dolphins will can build something great! We're breaking 500!
