Full story: Chicago Tribune

A good chance exists that a former Bears first-round draft pick soon will become one of the most powerful men in sports.

Of course, none of these are friends of Lovie, which is the primary litmus test.

Dan, why fan the flames for the idiots. Is there any proof or evidence that a player that played for a team other than the Bears is less of a coach than a player who played for the Bears? If so please provide the proof otherwise stop the insanity.

...and like Lovie and his staff, all will be at home watching the Super Bowl.

This just in:
Nobody thinks the genius that is Ron Rivera is head coaching material this off season either.

If living in Chicago has taught me anything, Curly, it's that a member of the '85 Bears should be in charge of everything. Always. No matter what.

Wasn't Trace Armstrong traded by Wannstedt to Miami for two first-round picks? IIRC, they managed to blow both picks on busts.

And, how many other players from other teams are coaching in the NFL?
The point you're trying to make is blunt at best. However, it would be cool to see a former Bear running this team, instead of "Blank Look" Lovie.
Don't know why they're keeping Smith , but I suppose anybody's better than Wannstedt - that guy was ridiculous.

Why start now. With the sale of the Cubs is there hope for Bear fans?

I,m pulling for either Jim Covert or Trace Armstrong to be the sucessor of the late great Gene Upshaw to be Executive Director for the NFL Players Association and I pray that either Jim or Trace will do an excelent job although Gene Upshaw will still be in My Heart.

Yes, and I'm sure he'll be in the hearts of all those crippled NFL players that were kicked to the side and ignored by the union (even though they paid into it). While Upshaw sat collecting his million plus salary.

I don't think so. He was never worth two firsts round picks. He wasn't even worth one first round pick when he was picked in the first round.

I think he left when they wanted more size, like a Brian Robinson at left end.

Who cares what team coaches played for, that doesnt mean anything. What should Brock Forsey be the next offensive coordinator? Also enough about the '85 team. If you think someone like Mongo would be a better coach just because he played on that team your stupid.

Listen Gene Upshaw did a great job as Executive Director for the NFL Players Union especially for the Collective Bargining Agreement and also how very hard Gene worked during Late 80's-Early 90's when try to get a CBA which they were without it for 6 Years and every Sports figure had their fair share of critisiam and I was very sad when Upshaw passed away.

I could not disagree more...
Being able to sack a QB doesn't necessarily translate to being able to TEACH OTHERS how to sack a QB.

Don't you realize by now the McCaskey's ONLY react to empty seats? I'm a season-ticket holder and I'm NOT going. If you think Phillips and Angelo are doing a good job, I have some nice land in south Florida to sell you.
