this guy was overhyped at ohio state . he was a so so passer - and had a laundry list of personal issues. thank goodness flacco is the qb . smith is like a slash - at pittsburgh.
to troy smith :
flacco is the ravens qb. he has a stronger arm than you , he is smarter than you , and has more of a future in the nfl...
suggs - you are a cancer for trying to create a qb controversy.
flacco - has been better than expected...to suggs - please go to another nfl team - and take cmac, ray lewis , and ed reed with you...
troy smith - name one team that wants you as its starting qb in the nfl ?
answer = none...
you seem like a nice guy - but not a starting nfl qb...

It was very unfortunate his illness this summer set him back. I don't know if he is better than Flacco as we have seen, but he seems to have a good attitude about everything. Whether here or somewhere else, wish him the best after that freakish illness.

I wish Troy Smith all the best. Time will tell how his career will fare. It's a Roman Circus mentality out there particularly in QB situations. One moment you're the hero, the next the dog. I believe in Troy Smith and he has athletic talent. Cut a break here, will you? The guy was seriously ill. Flacco was able to hold the ground given the situation and that was fortunate for the team. Troy Smith is a Raven and deserves support.

I was very happy to see Troy play last Sunday. This is the NFL and you not always get a second shot. So when Troy got sick in spring training, that was about as bad a break as anyone could get. Yet whenever you here Troy he has had a very positive attitude. I had no idea of the hard life he has had to get to here. Thanks for the good articule. I hope for Troy to come up big in Cleveland. How cool would that be?

I remember saying something to a Buckeye coach and she said "Troy is a team player and LOVES the Buckeyes!" So I let her (and daughter's team mates) know about this wonderful article. Thanks again Troy for siging your Heisman jersey for my baby Buckeye!!!!!!!

Signed Ms Buckeye-Raven!

There is no doubt in my mind if Troy started from day one this year the Ravens would be even better than 4-3. Troy is a better QB than Flacco and will prove it over time, whether that be in Bmore or someplace else.

How stupid a remark. The Ravens should be 5-1. They trully gave 2 games away. Troy has played for the Ravens and didn't fair so well. So not so quick to rag on Flacco. Granted, I expect Troy to excel with the new coaching staff, but lets appreciate the hugh effort by the entire team so far this year.

Dude, lighten up. Why do you have to be so negative. Troy seems to be a nice guy and well respected by his teammates, cut him some slack.

If Troy Smith is 6 foot tall, I'm the Queen of England.Fact is there has never been a winning QB in the modern era of the NFL that was 5'9". Doug Flutie? His best years were with the CFL, which is where Troy belongs.

Man, the kid had a real nice debut at the end of last year, especially considering that he was a rookie and had very few reps with the 1st offense all year. He is a natural leader and has natural football sense; he's a winner. This is nothing against Flacco at all, but I believe Smith can be an excellent NFL QB, a more athletic Drew Brees if you will.

Brian Billick is a class act; Kyle Boller is a class act; and you couldn't find a more classier person than Trent Dilfer. Yet all were thrown under the bus by a team that keeps ex-cons, thugs and finger pointing cry babies on the squad. Go figure.

I'm with you bro, I responding to the guy named "Comment" who was filled with negativity about Troy and some other players. I thought he ate a bunch of sour grapes before he posted.

The comparisons to Drew Brees are in their physical stature only. Brees has been a pocket passer his entire playing career (all the way back to the scouting report on him coming out of high school).

We're all getting hung up on a polarizing conversation: Flacco vs. Smith. What we should concentrate on is the positives of the situation. There are some QB's who, despite their immense physical talent, couldn't lead water down hill. The Ravens have two potential leaders. One is a more vocal "talk in the huddle and in the locker room" type, the other is a more calm "lead by example" type. How many teams can say that they have two viable field generals?!

I agree with you, Joshua. It's great to have two young, developing qb's.

Unfortunately, coach Harbaugh fanned the flames of the 'controversy' when he stated that Flacco was his quarterback for the rest of the year...no matter what. But, to Harbaugh's credit, he found a way to work Troy Smith into the offense. I can't wait to see we use our two qb's against the Browns.
