it is interesting that some people - other than those affiliated with Baylor, ISU, etc.- are "concerned" about the fate of those institutions in the event that the Big XII folds or is radically altered. No one weeps for Hawaii, or Boise State, or Nevada, or Air Force, etc.... institutions that have excelled Baylor and ISU (and many others) in football for years - yet have not reaped the rewards for their success (their annual take has been at or less than about 10% of what it is for ISU and Baylor).

Equity sounds good if what you are trying to create is a field of equals ... none better, none worse. Wait a minute? Didn't the old Soviet Union try that? I wonder how that worked for them?

Let's be honest - there is a broad spectrum across the Division I FBS in terms of football revenue (from all sources) and it will never be evened out, short of elimination of college football.

In the same way that most of us pursue (or at least consider) options that are "best for us", why should we so critical of universities that behave similarly? I am NOT a Texas fan by any means, or a BYU fan, or a Notre Dame fan. I am a fan of some of the "haves" and some of the "have nots".

Either a dramatic overhaul aimed at a gross smoothing out the revenue unevenness is needed (I did not say "equal")- or we need to accept the idea that pursuing what is in one's best self-interest is a normal alternative result.

What do I want? Truth? I want expansion, and I want "better conference homes" for my favorite schools. I may or may not be in the majority on the expansion issue, but I would bet that I am more-or-less "normal" in terms of what I want for my "favorite schools".
