Devin Hester is a weapon, no doubt about it. But a gun doesn't go off by itself.

Who called the quarterback draw that Grossman fumbled in the Red Zone. If for no other reason, Turner should be fired for that one call. Rex running gives us the best chance to score??? Give me a break... Get Rid O' Ron!

I completely agree. Turner was poison for the Illini, he's just as bad for the Bears. There is no imagination to the Bears' offense with Turner at the co-ordinators' helm. Watching the bears formations in actions is like watching the Keystone Cops.

truth, plain and simple is this:

Hester is nothing short of stupefying! His brilliance kept his team in the game... but by no means did he win the game for us. Hester bailed the defense out in a way the offense could not (as it is not built to do so!), and kept hopes alive on the sidelines.

The special teams unit was tremendous. The punt block was an answered prayer. Unbelievable. Just incredible. But they only put us in a situation the defense and offense could not.

Gould won the game... but in all reality - it was our mini "Favre" - our gunslinger who tied and won the match. In the end, he did what he could not all day. But with the weight of the city and his career on his back, he delivered. Big time!!! 10 of 14, 104 yards and a TD? I'll take it! Grossman was off the hook in the 4th quarter, leading his team to a comeback win when all thought it over.

Grossman did it. The same way Griese did against Philly. Grossman accomplished his task. He was outstanding down the stretch. When it mattered. He finished strong, when it counted.

Why is Rick Morrissey still employed by the Chicago Tribune? Seriously? And why are people who never played the game so self-righteous? Critiques are fine, but he is out and out brutal and, usually incorrect, about his "home team". First of all, Rex Grossman wasn't dismal and he made some really good plays. Granted the team made errors as a whole and Devin Hester definitely changed the momentum for the game but the Bears never gave up. The whole team worked together, Tillman blocking, Rex making smart plays by kneeling in the center for Gould and throws, Berrian making amazing catches. Give them a little credit or just leave Chicago already. They're your team, show some support at least.

In my opinion he did good all night.

Only one pick against two 4-time probowl cornerbacks, and only 2 fumbles with the way the pocket was collapsing all night?

I was rather impressed with Mr. Rex...

All of this talk of Devin Hester winning the game and being the difference maker is BS. Devin kept the Bears in the game, and the offense had to score three times in the 4th quarter and overtime, aided by the defense, to win the game. Yes, he scored twice, but so did Grossman and the offense.

Hester also had 232 total yrds vs. Grossman's 194.
Yeah I can see they both contributed equally.

The yards become irrelevant when the offense scores three times.

I don't care if the offense had 15 yards, we won as a team effort, not because of Devin Hester.

Did everyone forget that Hester's slapped-muffed (whatever it was) punt put Denver up on the board first?

Everyone made mistakes, and everyone recovered nicely - big team win - the Bears looked good at the end there.

Rex looked TERRIBLE for 3 1/2 quarters....Devin Hester kept us in that game. He had 2 TDs and 232 yds.

Your so quick to point out Hesters muff yet you fail to acknowledge that Rex had 2 FUMBLES and 1 INT.

Rex finished good ...I'll give him that...

I don't deny that Rex had and INT and 2 fumbles - did you read what I wrote?

EVERYONE made mistakes, and EVERYONE recovered nicely.

Does that somehow translate into: "Rex is the best! He's awesome! The rest of the Bears suck!" - in your little mind?

You always accuse me of only supporting Rex and yet you fail to realize that often times, I'm the one trying to communicate the idea of a TEAM effort to everyone.

And what you also fail to realize is that while yes, Hester kept us in the game, it was he and the defense in the first place who put us behind. And while Hester came out and was absolutely amazing later in the game, the offense still had to score 3 TD's, 2 coming less than 6 minutes, to win the game - and Hester had nothing to do with that.

And yes - Rex did finish big. On his last two drives he engineered a passer rating of 127.4.

The WHOLE team started off slow, and turned it up when we needed them to.

Then say what Hester did didn't win the game
For a returner Hester had a Probowl player night
For a Quaterback Grossman had a third stringer night.

I don't care if you like Grossman but please don't down play other players level of play to try and make him look better.
232 yrds, 2 TD's and 1 turnover vs. 194 yrds, 1 TD and 3 turnovers.

I never played down Hester! What are you talking about!? You're confusing me with the other two guys who posted earlier - I never played down ANYTHING the Bears did Sunday!

All I did was agree with "Rex Fan" and say that Grossman did have a good game. Which he did! He certainly did not play like a third-stringer. Jay Cutler fumbled twice on the night and threw a pick as well - so did he play like a third stringer too?

Everyone makes such a big deal about Grossman's mistakes! Why!?

I don't see anyone on here ridiculing the defense about a few of their bad plays (the 68 yard TD pass on the first play from Denver's last drive of the third quarter?)

I don't get how you can watch Hester give the Broncos their first score, come back later and have two huge scores, and then watch Grossman have a couple mistakes early, come back and throw the game winning TD and say that their performances weren't equally important in this game.

That's just stupid. We needed the two scoring drives in less than 6 minutes that Rex and the O engineered just as much as we needed Hester's returns for TD's. Without both, we would not have won the game. There's no way you can point to one thing and go, "That's why we won the game". Because if you're going to do that, then technically, Grossman's game-tying TD toss to Berrian, and then the 38 yarder to Clark to set up the winning FG would certainly be it.

I don't understand your argument. One is no more important than the other to me. The entire team had mistakes, and they all recovered nicely to come together and win the game.

Stop bitching about Rex. I'm tired of it!

Lmao.... I don't know why but, that made me laugh.

I was also thinking about how last year in the playoffs, Brady was doing horrible against the Chargers and he had that late winning drive to win and they called him a hero. A seasoned veteran. That's funny to me as well.

No but I'm starting to think you're his homosexual admirer who's holding a grudge after he turned you down.

Look at your name, look at all your posts. Even when the guy was on the bench, you still tried to link all the losses to him somehow.

If you want to pretend that any QB we have right now, or that's going to be in free agency is a better shot than Rex (not just because they're a different person - but because they're a better option) then you go ahead and do that.

I'll take a 21-8 QB with a Superbowl appearance under his belt, and the toughest mentality I've ever seen over any of the other QB's out there.
