Seriously, can't that entire list just be elected? Such a stellar list compared to MLB...

I can't believe Carter isn't already in. That man caught everything. I sure hope he gets it over Tim Brown. Jerry Rice is a lock.

I'd handicap the list as follows:

100% Lock: Jerry Rice, Emmitt Smith
80% Near Lock%: Cris Carter
50% Coin Flip: Shannon Sharpe, Russ Grimm
25% Needs Some Luck: John Randle, Dermonti Dawson

Rice and Smith are in. Carter should have been in last year - he can't get snubbed again (or can he?). Sharpe probably doesn't deserve it in front of anyone else listed above or Tim Brown, but he won a Super Bowl. Grimm has half the pro bowls/all-pro selections of Dawson and Randle, but won a Super Bowl. Dawson and Randle were both dominant for a decade, each 1st team all pro 6 times. The two veteran's committee nominees are Dick LeBeau and Floyd Little. Neither deserve to be in the HOF. A minimum of 4 players total MUST be selected. This year, no more than 5 will be selected.

My prediction: Rice, Smith, Randle, Dawson, Grimm.

John Randle was a good defensive lineman, but if he deserves to be in the hall, how can Jim Marshall not be? What do they have against him? The original Ironman, how many years did it take for someone to break his consecutive game streak? And then by a QB, who doesn't take a hit on every play. Nothing against Favre's streak, but come one, Marshall deserves it.

The hall probably does't want visitors laughing at Marshall's wrong-way run. The members are supposed to be revered, you know.
