This team needs a butt-kicking head coach to straighten it out. One like Tom Coughlin mid-to-late 90's. The reason teams like the Jets, Mets, and Knicks dont succeed is because the head coach does not hold players personally responsible for their lack of good play, their hustle, execution, and having the head in the game. When the other team is driving down the field or court, scoring at will, you DONT want to see players just walking around, and a head coach on the sideline with his arms folded, and doing nothing more.
Worked quite well for a certain Mr. Joseph Torre in The Bronx, NY. didn't it?

Louie Pinella rants and raves like a lunatic, how many titles does he have as a mgr?

I don't remember Tommy Landry running aroung like a nut case too much either. He did rather well too. So did Al Arbour and his Isles with 4 cups in a row. Al was never a ranter and a raver either.

Regardless of whether he's healthy or not I don't want to see Favre return in 2009. He's way too undisciplined and thinks he is above the team. I never really felt his heart was in the move to NY and the constant media scrutiny wore him down. I am sure he has media obligations in GB, but there he was an icon who NO ONE DARED to ask any tough questions of. Time to ride off into the sunset Favre - the HOF becons. Meanwhile the Jets have an entire off season to find out if Ratliff is the guy or if they need to find a veteran or draft a successor.

Has anyone looked at next years schedule ?
Apart from the AFC East, with or without Brady back on the PAT's , they have the COLTS, Falcons, Panthers, Titans ...
Thankfully I have a lot of neglected yard work from 2008 to catch up on in 2009...it ain't gonna get any better , any sooner...accept our destiny..to be the # 2 NFL Team in NY...this was their season, their shot, and they blew it !!!!!!!!!

As a Jet fan for over 40 yrs, I don't like that Woody has put Farve AHEAD of the Jets! He's leting Farve decide who will QB the Jets in 2009. That's a good way to destroy everything you've built over the last 3 yrs. You're compounding your mistakes instead of cutting your losses. Learn how to manage! If you want a winner ON THE FIELD take a step back, forget the Farve name and look at his performance in games 11-16 over the last 4 years and move on. Don't saddle your next coach with this guy on the field. You want PR? give him the nominal job of QB Talent Evaluator (or some other bogus title) and take him to your country club dances. The Jets owe him nothing. He took your money and cost you a precious draft choice. The trouble with rich kids is trhey didn't earn anything and surround themselves with "yes men" who don't want to lose their jobs. You took a shot, it didn't work on the field so don't make it worse by predicating your next decision on it. Cut Farve and move on! Save the future and give us a winner.

The Jets collaspe was a total team effort and it started with the head coach and his lack of leadership. Granted the Jets had many experienced vets including Favre who should have stepped up but none did. Now Rhodes and Jones are acting like Cowboys, perhaps we should jettison those jackasses to Dallas where their "its not me its them" attitude will fit in.
Good post !! The new coach will have to address these comments before summer camp or they will fester all season long. I didn't like Favre's little speech in the huddle before kickoff something about if it is, it is. He should have said lets go out and win this game and if Carolina wins, at least we gave our best effort. On the other hand I am soooo glad that Belicheat is sitting home watching the playoffs with the rest of us.
