There are 13 comments on the Columbus Dispatch story from Dec 4, 2009, titled Ohio University football: Solich remakes himself, program | Buc.... In it, Columbus Dispatch reports that:

Ohio University might have needed a miracle worker more than a new football coach during a winter of discontent in 2004-05. The team had won 11 games the previous four years under Brian Knorr and, outside of Peden Stadium, the football facilities rated among the worst in the Mid-American Conference.

At least he got into the spirit by (allegedly) being found passed out and drooling on himself at the wheel with his car in gear and facing the wrong way.

It's nice to see a story about working toward something instead of griping about how unfair life is.

Being a life-long Husker fan, I was disappointed when Frank Solich was let go at Nebraska. His accomplishments and contributions to the Husker program over the years was tremendous. I was happy to see him land at Ohio. He is, without a doubt, a tough, seasoned, caring coach. His results at Ohio are excellent and the Bobcats will have many more years of success under Coach Solich. Until Coach Solich arrived at Ohio, I was never interested in the Bobcats. However, now you can count me as a true follower of your football team. I wish you luck in tonight's game. Go Bobcats!

I wish Solich and Ohio the best of luck tonight and in the future. Solich got the shaft from Pederson , who then in turn hired a nfl retread to try and destroy our program. Callasham and Pedey you*%^&*(.

Love a Coach that can learn, grow and be successful. Coach Grobe turned OU almost around before Wake Forest drew him away. I would love to see the Bobcats win out this season, even if it causes the "Big Boys" to come calling, again. The Thursday we beat Pittsburgh, two years ago, the Pittsburgh fans told me that Peden Stadium was the best "college football experience for the fans". Not bad for the players now, either. Peace, Michael

It is actually a very conservative school with a strong ROTC program and a huge young Republicans Club. Roger Ailes from Fixed News Network is an OU alum. There are more business majors than hippies.

I love MAC football. Miami is known as the cradle of coaches, but look at what has happened--today, Brian Kelly (formerly of CMU), Butch Jones, Al Golden and Turner Gil are in the discussion for big time promotions. And Frank Solich is the quintessential coach, and I hope that OU appreciates what he has done for your program. Being a WV native and big Mountaineer fan, I saw my share of MAC football/basketball over the five decades that I have watched sports. You have produced excellent pro athletes, your games are competitive, and you have never been afraid to schedule the big boys, and have had your share of "upsets." I don't care who wins later today, but I know that I will be watching a great game.

Wow I can't tell if this is a positive article about Ohio University or not, if so it may be the first one The Dispatch has run in some time. Go Cats!
