Carroll...honest? Come on Mays, even though you are young you should know that is a oxymoron?

Well it is experiences like this that question Carroll's integrity:

MAYS: "I felt he told me the complete opposite of the actions that he took, which was definitely ... it was alarming. I understand it's a business. But with it being a business, he needs to be honest. And that's all I was asking for."

OR

Mays' former USC teammate, Damian Williams, endured a similar experience when Seattle picked a receiver, Notre Dame's Golden Tate, near the end of the second round instead of the USC product.

"It was hard. That pick hurt," Williams said. "It was tough for me"!

Makes my questioning of Carroll hanging out a lot with that weasel of a mayor Villarigrossa a little more valid in the lack of honesty department. YOU ARE the company you keep they say.

If you remember, it was not too long ago that a certain Lakers Superstar was refusing to get on the Laker championship parade bus because mayor V-Grossa wanted to be on the same bus for more egotistical exposure.

So way do I mention all this? Because I feel my questioning of Carroll's ethics can somewhat be paralleled with that of his "buddy" V-grossa and are a far cry from just a Topix tirade!

I would think you and I are on the same page in wanting to see Carroll's Pro career turn out mediocre! Right?!

By now you should know I don't wish ill on anyone in college or pro football. Football is entertainment, not life or death. I want Ahmahdinejad to have a mediocre career. I want Kim Jong-Il to have a mediocre career. I want Bin Laden to be forced into "retirement." PC? Nah, I don't want that for the man that brought USC back to relevance in college football just because he wanted to prove himself in the NFL.

I posted in another thread that I think TM2 just needs to shut up and set about proving the 4 teams that chose other safeties before him wrong. DW18 needs to do the same. They have to realize that they are in big boy land now, and personal loyalties are a luxury in the NFL that a new head coach trying to prove himself (the 3rd time around) probably can't afford. His task was to draft the best available players at those positions. I'm not in the position to say who that was, since I don't do that for a living, but obviously PC felt there were better players available. It's a business fellas. The sooner you learn that, the better off you are. Just ask LaDainian Tomlinson and Junior Seau what loyalty and devotion to one team got them. A kick in the ass out the door as soon as their production dropped. My advice to them: Get yours now, because there's no guarantees you'll be getting it next year.

Furthermore, while I'm not a Seahawk fan by any stretch of the imagination, I really can't root against them now that they have three of my favorite former Trojans on the team: Lofa Tatupu, BMW, and Ryan Powdrell. The addition of LenDale is also a plus.

Overall, I'm looking forward to next season, both in college and the NFL.

I wish I could be as righteous as you but I would wish a painful and untimely demise for those first three.

And while I will root against the Seahawks this season (didn't care for them before PC either) Mays will now have twice a year to put up or shut up when playing the Seahawks in the NFC West!

BTW, if any of you know of a good Topix or two regarding the potential return of the NFL to L.A. I would appreciate if you let me know.

The second largest market in the country untapped for now over 14 years. What type of "business" is that?!

Probably one of the better comments I've seen about this "situation" and it was posted by a guy with the moniker "Blue Bruin":
Carroll is no longer the USC coach. He has no obligation to sign former Trojans. In fact, it's probably better that he doesn't. Nobody wants to be invited to training camp and be pegged as a charity case just because Carroll was their college coach. Carroll's matra was "always compete." Therefore, his former players should welcome the opportunity to show up at any camp and earn their way onto the roster.

Yup. There were some good arguments both for and against the Industry proposal a few months back, but that was quickly overwhelmed by the NIMBYs. Now that there are two separate proposals on the table, it will be interesting to see which one succeeds.

MBD, we definitely need the NFL back in So Cal just for the fact that I am tired of hearing the fair-weathered fans and bandwagoners keep erroneously referring to the SC football team with statements like "The only Football in L.A." or "SC is L.A.'s pro team"! Screw that exaggerated media B.S. I want to read up on local football headlines in the Monday papers with something else besides SC for once! Well, at least Pete Carroll won't be there hamming up the paper with his quotes!

Not a NFL fan, although I did have Rams season tix's for a few years. Rather get more games on TV than a steady feed of local team. I do get sick and tired of the Oakland thugs and SD chokers and hose boy jim hill every weekend.
