Purplehaze-Canada- I appreciate your intelligent response even though it's a little off beat, because time played is based on what coaches see in practice as well as gametime.Matt Ryan and Joe Flaco started as rookies because they showed they were the best in PRACTICE and PRESEASON GAMETIME.Most rookie QB's don't start their first year some never see the field in a regular season game. Some get cut before the season begins(Chase Daniel).Bottomline you have to shine when it is your time, because only the best players make the team, especially if their isn't a large investment involved. So,direct you disgust at Sage for stealing that 3 million that may have cost BOOTY his booty.LOL
P.S. Purplehaze is one of my favorite song by the World Greatest Guitarest Ever.

...actually...i wouldn't direct my disgust at SAGE...if they are willing to give you that kind of money, he'd be dumb not to take it. i just believe they would have had a better understanding of his upside if he had been given as much airtime as TJ. you're right about the song...that is why i chose it...the man could make that thing talk...my 15 year old song...despite hip hop rap etc...got a thing for MOTOWN and HENDRIX...ya can't deny talent. lastly, i think our "D" could use a new name also ( no disrespect to the purple people eaters); my suggestion " PURPLE RAIN" or "PURPLEREIGN"...GO VIKES!!!

You are right - T-Jack got smoked by Philly but Eli Manning also didn't do so hot against that Jim Johnson D (RIP Jim). But for some D*&ba$$ to downplay a player's performance in preseason due to the reasoning that they don't give out the Lombardi in preseason, which at the same time the argument is used to suggest that "maybe" Booty's lack of performance in the preseason qualifies him as a potential Lombardi hoister made no sense. Get over your bitterness at T-Jack, people. I guess once a person commits to being a T-Jack hater, they will always be a T-Jack hater (as was the case with Moss, Culpepper, Childress, etc). Give T-Jack a mentor and a year to progress without a) the pressure of the spotlight and b) personal issues to deal with as he did last year with his first born's health problems during the season, and we'll see how he turns out. One difference this season is that we now have depth at QB along with a solid running attack and a very good WR corps. Be ready for some long screen plays this year as teams get burned stacking the box against us to go along with an occasional long ball after Peterson/Taylor start nickel and diming defenses. Skol Vikings!
...frustration is not hate. when TJ performed well, he got supported by me and other non supporters. however, when he didn't and GUSSY was given the ball, i didn't see many TJ supporters do the same...double standard don't you think? my point and i think a lot of so called "TJ BASHERS", feel the same; is that, given what KLINK sees in him and what he did to draft him; he should have exhibited a lot more potential at this stage than he has. in addition, given that KLINK also moved a notch to get BOOTY, only to keep him in the shadows, well that to me is unfair to fans as well as to BOOTY and the players. if it was a fair competition, then as fans we would be in more of an agreement on the subject. lastly, TJ supporter or not, i believe if they could have traded him...we might be posting about the TJ trade and not BOOTY'S bus ticket.

I'd rather listen to the game on XM. That way I can do work around the house, ride the bike or take a walk.

I was in favor of keeping Booty, but the Jackson backers do make sense that he has looked good this pre-season. The reality is if something were to happen to Favre, from what I have seen so far Rosenfels has not instilled any confidence in me as a replacement and Booty does not have the experience. Let's hope Favre stays healthy and the Vikes have a great year.
Tjack is inconsistent and fragile. He doesn't seem to have the desire to get any better either. But he will be a good backup. Maybe they'll trade him before the season is done.

Big mistake would be not signing Farve this season
Big mistake would be not putting some ok back-up QB behind Farve.
Your mistake is thinking a rookie with no regular game
experience run a playoff caliber team if your two Qbs
go down.
Well if you knew anything Booty isn't a Rookie. Go back to second grade.

Stupid is always Clueless wrote:
The one back-up QB with any real college experience and Clueless releases him. Jackson played in a kiddie-camp college system and league and never should have been drafted in any round. Clueless has just proven that he cannot judge talent. What was Jackson's record in college. The Year Booty started at USC he was 11-1 and won a Rose Bowl game with 4 touchdowns against Ill.
Way to go Clueless. No matter what happens this year I hope it is out the door for you.
The Jury is still outon Jackosn, but I thinks its in on Booty. Winner from a gretat program, lacks the physical tool to be an NFL QB. Seem's like he may be closer to being Head Coach than an NFL starter.

As for Jackson, we drafted a project. Maybe he'll work out, maybe he won't. He has shown more upside than Booty, and maybe the best QB of his draft so far.(See Leinart, Vince Young) and I don't see their teams giving up on them yet.

By the way, the league T-Jack played college ball in (SWAC) also produced Walter Payton, Doug Williams, Jimmy Smith, Donald Driver, Jerry Rice, Steve McNair, Leslie Fraiser and Michael Strahan to name a few; Some Kiddie Camp!

All these accolades about TJ, and how he should have been sent packing instead of Booty? I hope you are all wrong. Crow and pie are hard to eat,Crow is bad enough, humble pie is really hard to swallow. I know.
I'm not a big fan of T-Jack either but in all fairness he did have a good pre-season; I LOST FAITH IN HIM IN THE GAME AGAINST THE 'SKINS TWO YEARS AGO when all we had to do to get in the playoffs was win and we couldn't.

Some people hear are amazing. The excuses for JDB. "He only played against PS players and guys getting cut". Be real, if Jackson played like Booty in practice, OTAs, and preseason under the same conditions, they would call for his neck. We all know that college is just that; college. So to praise the kid and "hope" for the kid based on college results makes me wonder some peoples' motivation. No way, at this point, Booty is better than Jackson. No way, at this point, Jackson is better than a "healthy" Favre. Football is like life, it changes and no one knows what tomorrow brings.(See Warner over Trent Green). No player is beyond criticism, but when people consistently say one player is better, or "everybody's better", even though he out performed them raises suspicion. How is Jackson the worst QB ever with a positive win% and a 95rtg last year. All luck? No skill? I asked this before, out of 128 NFL QBs, is Jackson last? who's in the bottom ten and WHY (based on performance)?
