Minnesota Vikings drop John David Booty

Full story: TwinCities.com

The Minnesota Vikings have dropped quarterback John David Booty from their practice squad, according to vikings.com. Booty was drafted in the fifth round in 2008 and considered a project, but didn't show the progress the Vikings had hoped for and didn't make the 53-man roster this year.

I hope we DO see him starting somewhere. Because if he is, he'll probably help the Vikes' defenders pad their stats with all those interceptions and sacks he'll be coughing up...

Hill's no better than our backups (just a game manager and only starting because Alex Smith sucks even worse) and Thigpen is riding the bench in Miami after going 1-11 as a starter last year in KC. Not exactly the cream of the crop there.

We'll never see him in the NFL again. TJack saved his own skin by playing great in preseason but vikes will draft a qb in 2010.

John David Booty is more than a gifted football player - he is a fine young man, and he will be a sucess in whatever he undertakes to do. He is a winner - a young man with character! WE wish you the best!!

I saw this coming and am rather please with the decision; I know I might get slack for voicing, but I believed all along the Vikes WOULD keep TJack and plan for the future with him or a possibility of drafting a potential QB in 2010 to compete. the post Favre era is still in question as to our QB but TJ is showing the potential he could have in our system, plus if Favre did go down this year I feel much more excited/comfortable with TJack's output than with Sage's. Superbowl bound Vikes!

That would require a trade for players I would think, given Clevelands current state of affairs. I don't think that works out well for us. Draft picks, maybe. Late rounders.

And if they want to take T-Jack or Sage, they can have their pick.

..i know...you're right G...however, given QUINN'S latest performances ( or lack thereof); he may be gotten for a lot less than what some may think. besides, if the the price is right...it couldn't hurt for the post BF period, even though i think we will try to draft a quality QB next year. hopefully, it is not another experiment type...GO VIKES!!!

I hope not! If he can't hold the starting gig on a team as bad as the Browns, then I don't want to see him in MN.

Besides, the next draft is loaded with good prospects.

Many Viking fans(Cough) want to see Thigpen succeed just so they can blame Klink. I think the Vikes are hanging onto Sage for trade bait when a starter goes down. Then maybe they can get that 4th round draft pick back, but it's clear that TJ is next in line for the throne.

Speaking of QB's, why isn't the # 2 QB seeing any play time? Things are going great now, finally . But what if Favre got hurt? We know what jackson canNOT do. Sage has not had a chance to show his possible talent in five games. Let our future QB sage rosenfels take some snaps after the game is in the bag! After all, he is the #2 QB

...i'm not saying it would be good or bad, only, that with the timing involved and the rumors surrounding him...it wouldn't surprise me if it did. you're right about the draft BF, problem is, the QB position is probably the hardest one to call. plus, given our history with this problem and what we have done to try and solve it...well...you know how that story unfolded...GO VIKES!!!

No I belive TJ is, Chilly named him #2 right before the Cleveland game, unless something changed and I missed it.

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Leo

The atmosphere is highly combustible today, with people getting in a stew over the smallest little thing. You will also have a tendency to get hot under the collar, especially if someone isn't doing things as quickly as you'd like. Try to stop yourself getting in a rage because once that happens it will be difficult to cool down again. Maybe you need some fresh air?
