Anyone with a single bit of understanding about how pro football works should KNOW that Tarvaris Jackson is NOT capable of being the Vikings QB of the present -- OR the future. 3 picks today against an awful team. He's had more than enough chances - both before and after 'the coming of Farve' to show everyone that he couldn't and still can't -- read defenses. The only supporter he might have had is/was Childress -- and he's long gone -- and so should TJack -- be gpone right after this now long lost season.

Just wanted to let you know that Favre's name is spelled Favre.

i have always liked tavi and whatever people may say about the bills i think that he will most likely be our best option at QB next year. regardless of their record they have been very competitive with most quality teams and actually have a solid pass defense.
first pick was pretty bad but it was also partially 85s fault. same on the second. bad throw but 85 did not help anything by basically setting it for someone to catch. the third was, again, a bad decision not seeing the single high safety, but is really not that bad considering it was a deep ball and sidney is a beast...ill take that chance from time to time and the last two were points where we were up big and he was just getting a little loose with what he was doing. anyway, yeah, he was still inconsitent, but he made a lot of very good throws and did a good job using his abilities. like i say every time regarding tavi, he is not the best QB in the league but there are quite a few starting QBs that i would take him over and considering he still doesn't have that much quality playing time i still think that we can win games and be competitive with his abilities against about anyone.
feel free to tear me apart and label me "clueless" like everyone always does.

I know that my comment is totally unrelated to this story, but thought it note worthy. has anybody else noticed that both of the articles that involve blacks have had the comments disabled? The life time offender that killed two while fleeing police in a stolen car, and the black panther case. Hey Pioneer Press, nice censorship!

It's a win i'll take it anyway we can get it. Travis jackson done fair as long as we win i don't care if he throws three interceptions.

TO: mjc on the Spelling of Favre's surname !

Yeah !!! I really knew that, just have had one too many Tom 'n Jerry's to help survive after the T-Jack offensive disaster. Thanks for the reminder.

God help me but I agree........He threw a pick and was not rattled..........came back strong.

Have 2 give him a contract.he is a great back-up.

.....u are absolutely rite and i hope he goes in the offseason cuz he has had 5 yrars 2 develop and he is still a backup QB so he needs 2 leave minnesota since he doesnt care about the fans....he even said he doesnt care if the fans boo or cheer which tells me he doesnt care about us fans at all since he is really playing 4 us and the orginization

Unfortunately T Jack proved that he is NOT NFL caliber. Bone headed mistakes, INT's & the constant jumping before every pass. If a High school QB would jump before each pass he would be benched.
T Jack needs to be released after this year!

And how many interceptions has Favre thrown this year? Tavaris scrambled for gains in situations where the tenured Favre would have been beaten to the ground for loss or turnovers. I believe tavaris performed admirably given the fact that he's been on the bench. He rose to the challenge today. An agressive qb is gonna throw picks....you don't make grandstand plays by being timid...I was really shocked by his confidence in and out of the pocket as well as his confidence in his receivers to make big plays. Although I would like to see Webb get some play time, 3 pics aren't enough for me to frown at today's performance. Start Brett for the first drive in the next few games so he can get his record and get on. But let our next generation of QB, whether Jackson or Webb, take the field and start playing for our future. Great job by the fans on defense. Let's hope the players can take that energy on the road with them.

38 points. Who was quarterback? Tarvaris Jackson.

Thing is, as a coach you have to scheme to favor your player's strengths and find ways to compensate for their weaknesses. We all know Tarvaris stares down his receivers, but there are ways to compensate, like planned pump-and-go routes. Do that a few times on those down and outs, and suddenly the cornerbacks will think twice about jumping the ten-yard sideline throws.

Jackson clearly passes better when he's on the move, not when he's in the pocket. Is Leslie Frasier smart enough to scheme for this? We'll find out next week, because even if Favre starts, that sternum injury will take him out of the game the first time he hits the ground.

TJ is by no means a competent starter in this league, but he is probably better than most backups. I think we should keep him to be a backup QB. Vikes should draft a franchise QB and sign a vet QB with a high football IQ for the rook to learn from. Looks like Favre's done, so how about Donovan McNabb or Jeff Garcia. I know the suggestion of Garcia will be scoffed at, but the guy always seems to win, is famiiar with the WC offense and he can definitely read a defense better than TJ.

Even if Jackson hadn't thrown a single pick the jury would still be out; he has been far too inconsistent to be judged by a single game. I'm still thinking he is back next year in some capacity just because of Favre's impending retirement and Joe Webb's lack of experience. The front office should plan on drafting a QB in the early first round this April not matter what.

It may be pronounced that way in Louisia, but it is pronounced Farve to the rest of the world.

Some where in this story you left out the hard running of AP and Gerhard that really kept the Bills off balance.

I loved the way the O-line stood and watched Farve(Favre) get creamed and then played pretty well after that considering 2 replacements.Thats gotta make you think more to the story. By the way which team does Rosenfuls start for?
