Let me get this straight: 11 of 15 (73%) behind a makeshift line, with two more balls that should have been caught, a fumble caused by the line not doing its job and an interception that was part force but part bad route/read by WR, too...and that is somehow barely ok. But 5 of 12 (41%) with two clear picks that NE dropped is ok. Can someone who has played the game/coached the game/actually understands how key OLine play is, please explain to me how Boller did not completely outplay other two. forget the past, forget who might be starter in 3 weeks or a year...graded just on tonight, how can Boller not be best of 3?

I didn't realize Boller had a younger brother named Flacco.

No O-Line + No Quarterback = 4-12

So that's what a D-3 Quarterback looks like.

I couldnt agree with you more Suprise and Spanker. Finally someone with actual football knowledge. There are so many biased boller bashers that no matter how good he plays he will still be criticized and it makes me sick. ill take 11 for 15 anyday of the week. he looked really good. hey baltimore fans how about we try something different. lets support our players instead of bashing them. Boller should start period

And......which game are you commenting on? Boller went to California, Troy Smith won the Heisman with Ohio State, and Flacco played for Delaware.

I didn't see anybody step up late from Frostburg or Augustana.

Nice try..........not.

Two words.... PRE SEASON.

I'ts Kyle Boller people. Do you really think he will all of a sudden be good. He played against a Patriot defense with no inspiration and a Vanilla/Lets not get injured attitude. Let it go, he's not what you've wasted five years of your life hoping he'd be, and he never will. If there's one thing you can count on when he's playing, it's that stupid a$$ interception and that trip on your own feet fumble that he commits in each and every game he ever plays in.

Hey! You all need to chill the F down, it is preseason. I think Kyle Boller did a good job (11/15, 102yds) is just fine, he worked out some of the kinks and not only that, he stayed on his own two feet!

at least Tom Brady wasn't playing because there is a bounty on his head. Bart Scott would've knocked him out cold for last year.

Your comment is kind of, well, self defeating. Like you say, pre-season. Smith played against even inferior defenders than Kyle did, and managed much worse. This just impartial observation. I could care less who starts the season, whoever is the best chance to win. I have no horse in this race, so to speak.

But, Kyle was sharp and accurate. First "game" of the year, he was rusty and fumbled the ball once and intercepted once. But accurate, even with throwing more than dunks and dinks as many like to say he did under Billick. Smith made some good throws, than he made some very bad ones as well. Again, first game against teams out to prove their worth as opposed to practice.

I did not see anything in the game to make me see a whole lot of distancing between Smith and Boller. Still pretty much same argument, Boller has a few turnover issues, Smith accuracy issues. Thats what the next 3 pre-season games are for.

In reality, you will have to pick your poison between Boller and Smith, are you going to want a more accurate passer but who commits more turnovers vs. a guy who is more inaccurate, but makes fewer turnovers?

Think about that for a little while before you answer. You have one who will move the team better, get better field position, but kill a drive with a turnover vs. a guy who will move the team less through his inaccuracy, but give up less turnovers and you can play field position through punting.

Like I say, pick your poison. At the end of the day, without improvement in either ones weaknesses, your going to pretty much end up with the same results (W-L, field-postion, scoring)at the end of the day.
